• Arenal Volcano View and Lava Trails - This activity offers a guided experience with a local expert who will explain the geological development of Costa Rica and highlight its significant volcanic features. The trail features Basaltic Andesite lava rock fields and areas of regenerating forest, where wildlife is beginning to recolonize these unique ecosystems. The hike’s length is adaptable to the group’s needs, ranging from 1 to 4 miles (6.44 km).

Arenal Volcano is the youngest summit geologically, estimated to be around 7,000 years old based on carbon dating studies. Throughout this time, Arenal has experienced alternating periods of activity and dormancy. On July 29, 1968, after approximately 400 years of inactivity, the area experienced one of the most destructive volcanic eruptions, resulting in casualties and economic devastation. Minor eruptions continued until 2010, gradually transforming La Fortuna village into one of the world’s most sought-after destinations.
