Our guide was incredible!... - Our guide was incredible! She was so friendly and very knowledgeable. I think for excursions like this it’s always better to go with a guide especially if you’re solo. We learned about the volcano and got to see some incredible view points. Hike is pretty much all rocky and on a steep incline but very doable!!

The best volcano tour with kids - We had the best time on our hike. Giovanni was early to pick us up, the bus was comfortable and clean and the drive was quick. Jose (Pepe) was a fantastic guide. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We hiked with our 3 kids (ages 7,5, and 4) and none of them complained once. I cannot recommend this tour enough! I came to Arenal several years ago with my family and was concerned about my kids with this hike having done one prior but with this company and these guides you cannot go wrong.

Very good hike at base of volcano - Our guide, Angelica, was very knowledgable and made the hike very interesting. She explained the history of the area and of the volcano, she pointed out interesting facts along the trail and took some photos for us. My wife and I both agreed that the eperience would not have been nearly as rich if we had just done the hike on our own. Also, tours like this are a very good opportunity to meet some interesting fellow-travelers and strike up conversations. Thank you, Angelica.

Raul and Hector are the best tour guides in Costa Rica! - We loved this hike with Raul and Hector! We met them both the day before during our Safari Boat Tour and asked for them again when we booked this tour through our hotel (The Springs) - thankfully they were available because they are both so great! Raul guided us on the long trail, stopping frequently to point out wildlife (owl, viper snake, insects, sloth, etc.) and to take photos. He was so knowledgeable and we highly recommend the hike with him as he really added to the experience. The grounds of the hike are so beautiful as well. Cannot recommend enough! Thank you Raul y Hector - hope to see you both soon!

You won’t be disappointed - This hike was so fun! It’s just challenging enough, you get to see some amazing views and jump in a waterfall at the end- what else can you ask for? Pepe was a fantastic guide, he showered us with information. Highly recommend!

This trip is as... - This trip is as advertised in terms of difficulty . Our hike was a bit shorter than in the description. Guide was very knowledgeable and did an amazing job of spotting wildlife. He was very good about taking photos through his scope leaving us with much better photos than we could have taken. He set a good pace, accommodating the different fitness levels. He answered all questions in a clear and helpful way. You need to do this hike with a guide: alone we’d never have seen a small bit of what he showed. The only drawback: there is a lovely cafe with amazing views of the volcano close to the parking lot and we didn’t stop. Twenty minutes for coffee there would have been great.

Great Hike with Great Views - Juan Carlos gave a fabulous tour weaving history and local lore into the scenic views. He was a great guide and we had fun. I would rate this more as a hike, vs a wildlife and scenic walk. Many times were were hustling up trails and through otherwise cool vistas with very little time to take in the surroundings or enjoy the wildlife. As a hike, I think this would be 5 stars. I gave it 4 as I had hoped to enjoy more of the flora and fauna. But, the views of the volcano (and Juan Carlos' knowledge) were splendid.

Our guide was Ray, he was... - Our guide was Ray, he was amazing. I went with my 4 and 7 year old children. They were able to keep up with the group. Ray was personable and very knowledgeable. The day we went it was raining so we didn't get a good view of the volcano. However, it was still a very lovely experience.

It’s a volcano… hike - This is a 1.6 mile hike (or longer if you take the longer trail). You should tour with a guide that can of get you insight on the history of the volcano as well as pointing out the various flora on the trail. There are not a lot of animals to be sighted on this walk. Our guide was informative but took frequent stops that seemed to make the whole experience longer than necessary. Wear good shoes for rocky and sometimes steep inclines and declines. Be ready for testing your balance if that is an issue. This is worth a morning or afternoon
