- Ancient City (Mueang Boran) - Known as the world’s largest outdoor museum, Ancient City is located near the Crocodile Farm in Samut Prakan Province. Spanning 320 hectares, this “city” showcases 116 structures representing Thailand’s renowned monuments and architectural marvels. The layout of Ancient Siam mirrors the shape of the kingdom, with monuments positioned in their geographically accurate locations. Some buildings are life-size replicas of existing or historical sites, while others are scaled down. Additionally, there are “creative designs” that are not replicas of any historical structures.
The replicas were crafted with the guidance of experts from the National Museum to ensure historical precision. Noteworthy works include the former Grand Palace of Ayutthaya (destroyed during the Burmese invasion of 1767), Phimai Sanctuary in Nakhon Ratchasima, and Wat Khao Phra Viharn on the Cambodian border.
