- Eagle’s Nest Bus Departure Point - On the journey to the Obersalzberg bus terminal, there will be several excellent photo opportunities. The private guide will point out historical sites from 1933 to 1945, including the Berghof grounds, bunker entrances, SS barracks, and more. A scale model at the bus terminal will further illustrate the mountain’s layout.
- The Eagle’s Nest - Accompanied by a private guide, visitors will explore the Eagle’s Nest. From the bus terminal, a specially equipped mountain bus will take guests on a thrilling ride up the 4-mile road with a 27% incline to a rocky plateau. From there, a 406ft (124 meter) long tunnel leads directly to the original WWII brass elevator, which ascends another 406ft into the Eagle’s Nest. After the tour, there will be free time to enjoy the views or refreshments.
- Berchtesgaden - After descending from Obersalzberg, the tour continues to the charming Bavarian mountain town of Berchtesgaden, nestled in the Koenigssee River valley. Guests will have time to explore Berchtesgaden independently before returning to Salzburg.

While descending from the Obersalzberg en route to Berchtesgaden town, witness the locations of the underground bunker systems beneath the mountain, and Adolf Hitler’s former residence, the Berghof. After visiting the Berghof locations, continue to the picturesque mountain hamlet of Berchtesgaden nestled in the Kings Lake River valley. Travel alongside Kings Lake creek on the drive back to Salzburg, ending at your hotel or any preferred location in Salzburg.

Carlos our tour guide was... - Carlos our tour guide was fantastic ! Very informative & entertaining. The trip up the mountain was amazing. Snow capped peaks & lush green valley. Eagles Nest itself was so interesting. A must see

What a wonderful day!! - We would highly recommend the private tour even though it is pricey. Our guide, Michael, was friendly and kind. His knowledge about everything was extensive. He obviously enjoys his job! Thank you, Michael!

Very picturesque setting - We were on a tour with a private tour company. We drove halfway up the mountain where we parked the bus and got onto special electric buses which took us to the top of the mountain. Once there we walked in a tunnel to an elaborately decorated elevator that took us up to the Eagle’s Nest, which was built in 1938. We walked though what is today a restaurant but was once the retreat of Adolf Hitler. The rain finally stopped, and we got a great view of the valley below. You could walk around the facility and have a bite to eat if you wish. Eagle’s Nest or Kehlsteinhaus sits at an elevation of 1834 meters. We were advised there were 2000 visitors today, probably less than usual because of the rain. We were next to the last bus down off the mountain at 1700.

Breathtaking - Amazing architecture and construction. The views are unbelievable. Carlos did a great job navigating the crowds and keeping our wait times low, especially with my dad who is older and has troubles walking. He is very knowledgeable and told us the real story of what happened vs Hollywood. We even got to do some extra stuff that wasn’t included. He knew which things to do when, how long they would take, the best path to walk.

a worthwhile side trip - Pick up and drop-off at our hotel and pre-trip communication was seamless. Very comfortable ride (there were 6 of us) and our guide had lots of interesting information about eagle's nest but also more general info about the region. We had sufficient time to do the exploring and visiting we wanted to do and our guide was particularly helpful in getting us and out of the bus (you can't drive the last portion of the road) in order to minimize wait times. I wish we had had more time for the museum at the end but all in all, it was an educational experience and the trip was smooth and easy.

Great morning! - Luciano was a wonderful guide. He gave us a lot of informations about the Eagle Nest. He made strategic stops so we could enjoy some incredible views of the area. When he brought us back to Salzburg, he showed us different areas where they filmed the iconic movie Sound Of Music. It was great!

A Five-Star Private Tour Experience with Luciano - We had the absolute pleasure of having Luciano as our tour guide for a private half-day tour of Berchtesgaden and the Eagle’s Nest. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the experience! From the moment he picked us up promptly at our hotel, Luciano was professional, friendly and full of knowledge. He shared fascinating insights into the history of Salzburg and the surrounding areas, which enriched our journey.
Along the way, we got to learn more about Luciano himself, and his personal stories made the tour feel even more authentic and special. He surprised us with stops at several filming locations from The Sound of Music, which absolutely delighted my wife. This was such a thoughtful and memorable touch as my wife is a huge fan of the film and music.
Luciano made sure we had plenty of time to take photos at scenic spots. He always offered to take pictures of the two of us so we could capture those memories together. His connections with other local guides and drivers were impressive and made us feel incredibly comfortable and well looked after throughout the tour.
A true highlight was his effort to ensure we had the best seats on the bus ride up to the Eagle’s Nest. Thanks to him, we had unobstructed, breathtaking views and kept us at the front of the pack. He also allowed us personal time for us to explore which was a tremendous touch and made us feel that, although on a tour, this was still OUR activity.
He was courteous, funny, incredibly friendly, and—most importantly—a very safe and punctual driver. From start to finish, he went above and beyond to make our day unforgettable.
I cannot recommend Luciano enough to anyone considering a private tour! His guidance truly elevated our experience and was one of the most memorable parts of our honeymoon. We’re so grateful to have had him as part of our journey!
