- Mirabell Palace and Gardens - The famous song “Do Re, Mi” was partially filmed at Mirabell Palace. Visiting the gardens will evoke memories of Maria and the von Trapp children dancing around the Pegasus Fountain, leaping up the steps, and running through the hedge tunnel. The private driver is pleased to arrange a brief stop for capturing unforgettable photos.
- Stift Nonnberg - Nonnberg Abbey, the oldest convent north of the Alps, is where the real Maria became a novice nun and married Georg von Trapp. Four scenes from the film were shot here: the nuns singing “Maria” in the courtyard, Maria leaving the abbey, the children visiting her, and the Nazis searching for the von Trapps. The local driver is ready to create a short stop for those perfect photos.
- Felsenreitschule - The Rock Riding School (Felsenreitschule) is Salzburg’s most renowned concert venue and the site where the real von Trapp family won the Salzburg Music Festival in 1936. Fans will recognize this location from the scene where the Captain sings “Edelweiss” and his family joins him on stage to sing “So Long, Farewell”.
- Schloss Leopoldskron - Leopoldskron Palace is a key filming location of The Sound of Music, not to be missed on a themed day trip. The grand palace and stunning backdrops overlooking the lake served as the main location for filming all the scenes on the lake terrace of the Von Trapp family home. Today, the palace is a boutique hotel.
- Schloss Frohnburg - Frohnburg Palace played a significant role in The Sound of Music as one of the two filming locations for the von Trapp Villa. Once a private residence, the palace is now a Music Academy.
- Villa Trapp The original Sound of Music Family Home - Although not a filming location, it is a must-see on a day trip. The real von Trapp family lived here for 15 years. They managed to board a train at the nearby station to escape the Nazis the day before the Austrian borders were closed. Today, the von Trapp villa is a hotel and an educational Sound of Music museum about the real von Trapp family, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the movie. Capture the moment with a brief photo stop, just one of the exclusive perks awaiting you with our private transfer services.
- Schloss Hellbrunn - Just outside the city center is Hellbrunn Palace, home of the Sound of Music pavilion. This is where a romantic scene from The Sound of Music was filmed, when Liesl receives her first kiss while singing “16 going on 17”. Visitors cannot enter the pavilion, but they can take as many pictures as they like around it.
