• Villa Trapp The original Sound of Music Family Home - Although not a filming location, it is a must-see on a day trip. The real von Trapp family lived here for 15 years. They managed to board a train at the nearby station to escape the Nazis the day before the Austrian borders were closed. Today, the von Trapp villa is a hotel and an educational Sound of Music museum about the real von Trapp family, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the movie.
