It was an excellent... - It was an excellent excursion because we had a very good tour guide, his name is Fabio. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject which made the tour more meaning when I had a good guide.

Hornocal, go. - This day was rich in novelties , first 4350 m, passage of the tropic of capricorn, mountain with 14 colors ... all accompanied by Fabio , a guide who goes out of the ordinary and unfolds his days and his profession with passion.

Extraordinary view on Hornocal Hill at +4000m - First of all, you should know that all excursions from Salta include a lot of bus travel time, and little stopover time in small villages (I preferred not to have lunch to enjoy more Huamaca) . Knowing this, the landscapes of this excursion are magnificent, culminating in the 14-colored hill in Hornocal at +4000 m altitude. The guide was great and even friendly on the return. If you only have to take one excursion, I think this is the one to choose.

Spring for the Hill of 14 Colors! - I did all four of the day trips from Salta with La Quebrada, and this was my personal favorite. That was in no small part due to tour guide Fabio, who so clearly loves his job and is proud to show visitors his home. (He also has a few surprises for his guests if you're lucky.) The trip itself was also great; I loved popping into the little towns and the Hill of 14 Colors was one of my highlights from a whole month in South America.

El Hornocal - A must-see from the Argentine North! It can be reached by own vehicle or by paying for 4x4 excursions departing from the Humahuaca terminal ($20,000 per person, in August 2025). I recommend going on the excursions as the road is ripe! It is very cold and windy, you have to go with jacket😅

About driving and the guide - It was good. The guide was a pretty dry Cover, who didn't mind interacting. I spoke what I had to speak in Spanish, we asked you to speak more slowly. Did you just say "brasilheños"? And it continued at the same pace. The very old micro.onibus, with ripped banks. Excellent driver. It's a nice walk, but very tired.

Landscape is amazing, but the tour itself is disappointing - I did the tour because of the landscape in Serranias del Hornocal. In the description, it was not clear that the 2 hours we had included the transportation to and from it. Therefore, we had only 30 minutes at the carpark left, and there was not enough time to do the little hike to the viewpoint. Despite that the entrance was included in the package, we had to pay the entrance fee for the last part ourselves, after we drove about 40 minutes there (from Humahuaca). This is especially bad because they only accept cash, and there was no way to withdraw cash there. Luckily, we had enough money with us. Otherwise, we would not even get to the carpark (first vewpoint). Our guide was not remotely interested in what our package included. So she did not get in touch with her company (La Quebrada Tourismo). All in all, it was a whole day trip, so we could see the Hornocal only for 30 minutes. Conclusion: The landscape is amazing, but I would book this tour with a different organization and not with "La Quebrada Tourismo".
