A very helpful... - A very helpful introduction to Salt Lake City. The tour guide was very down to earth and knowledgeable. We hit the highlights and didn't spend too long in each place but got an overview so that we could go back to places where we wanted to spend more time. Especially nice was the capitol building. Very pretty.

Great tour! - We just completed the 3 hour driving tour of Salt Lake City with Jake. He was amazing! There were only 2 of us on the tour so he was able to adjust the time at each stop a little to accommodate our interests. Jake was a walking encyclopedia of all things in Salt Lake City. He provided the history and interesting facts about everything we saw, including the different materials (rocks) that were used in building many of the buildings in town. Jake not only knew a lot about Salt Lake City, but we also learned a lot about Utah in general.

Overall, the history... - Overall, the history given by the tour guide, John, and the sites visited were very good and informative. However, there was one element that left a bad impression with my out-of-town guests and which I also found somewhat insensitive and unnecessary. That was our guide's fairly frequent (and unnecessary) commentary on the founders/tenants of the LDS church. Our guide, for sure, was trying to be humorous when relaying various points, but for my guests and myself, the narration , at time, became repetitious and almost mean-spirited. None of us are LDS members, but we remarked how the tour would certainly have hurt the feelings of any guests who were members of the church. John (who told us he was not an LDS member) had a lot of good things to say and I would recommend him and the tour but suggest that he keep personal religious commentary out of his talk and stick to factual (and a little less) information about the church.
