Absolute must!! - The House of Illusion is a building located by the marina in the heart of Salou on the seafront. The building hosts various different events during the week including a magic show, West End extravaganza and a bingo night. Depending on which day you go will determine which show you see. We booked for both the magic show and the West End Spectualcular. NB - One criticism I have is that we booked and paid for our tickets in full for two shows, both with meals and drinks before we left the UK but we could not apply the discount that the website states you get if you book two shows at the same time. This equates to a 30% saving per person so we could have saved around 60 Euros of our total booking of just over 200. I did email to ask if we could have the discount applied after we had booked and paid by way of an upgrade or refund but I never received a response (which I felt was poor customer service). We have been to the House of Illusion last year when we were at Salou but we only went for the show and drinks so we wanted to make it more special this time and we booked two shows, both with silver tickets which meant we received unlimited drinks, a closer seat to the stage and a three course meal. You can upgrade your meal ticket to gold for a more varied meal and drink selection or just opt for show tickets with drinks only. Even with drinks only, there is the option to buy food from the table. Drinks only is brilliant for unlimited drinks and a show on a budget but I found the extra money for the food was definitely worth it. As part of House of Illusion, there is Houdinni's Bar which is where you arrive and wait for the show to start. There is a mixture of indoor and outdoor seating with waiters taking your order from the table. When we went for the Broadway show, we were welcomed to the bar and offered a signature cocktail cheaper than at the bar (which we accepted) and it was poured there and then. It can take time for waiters to take your orders and provide your drinks if ordering from the bar and I was a bit worried my second drink would not arrive before we were called in. You wait in the bar with a number you are given and announcements are made about who is being seated when. It is normally VIP and Gold ticket holders first, then Silver and then those who are drinks only. The entrance to the venue is at the top of the steps you walk past to get to the bar and you queue before being shown to your seat. We were greeted warmly at the door before being taken to our seat. Deb introduced herself as server for the evening and explained that the drinks were unlimited but she would be keeping an eye out so our jugs did not run dry. Deb was attentive, friendly and polite. Just before the show started, one of the staff, whom I recognise because of his warmth and personality went from table to table removing the closhes and explaining about what the salad was and how they starters work (cold one is on the table with the hot ones to follow). He did this efficiently and methodically, taking the time to speak in various different languages despite his native tongue being English. I never caught his name but he was also the person who greeted us before our table and acted as the compere for the evening. He really is an asset to the House Of Illusion, as are all of the staff front of house, back of house and in the wings. Customer service and value are two of they key things that House Of Illusion excel at and it really helps to elevate the evening into something special; and that is before the show even starts. After the starters are enjoyed and removed, the show began and what followed was some high quality, top notch musical entertainment that spanned a multitude of different musicals from the West End. With live singing, tight choreography and an energised cast that work the room, you are transported from the streets of London to the streets of Paris in a matter of songs. From Hamilton to Matilda, Dear Evan Hansen and much more, I was sobbing in between the uplifting numbers as some of the numbers hit home just as much as they did when I was sat in the actual West End in the UK. At the intermission, our main course was served which was chicken and fries which was the right amount of food to fill you up without bloating you. Dessert followed before drinks were topped up and the second half of the show started. The energy in the show changes and becomes more uplifting and party like, encouraging people to get up and engage with the music. After the final song, there is a curtain call and one more chance to hit the dance floor before the show draws to a close (in our case, to raputpus applause and whistling). Overall, this is hands down one of the best things to do and see if you are in Salou. Even if you are all inclusive (as we were), having a nice meal out of the hotel as part of a show that lasts about three hours, is definitely worth doing. I think the value is excellent where you get a ticket to a show, a three course meal and unlimited drinks for around 50 Euros each that creates memories that will last long beyond the sun has set and the tan has faded.

West End Musicals - Attended the west end show last night and had a great time. This group are top notch at what they do. Singing, dancing, acrobats. My older sister and I had a bit of a moment when GG took his shirt off when singing. Highly recommend this show, gets changed up every season so even if you’ve been before you’ll see something else next time you go. Received a special surprise bottle of cava as well for my birthday. Thanks for a superb night.

Super show - Went to Sat night drinks only show. Tells you to be there for 9.45 but don't take you in until about 10.15. If you get there earlier you'll be seated in Houdini's attic but if you don't want to pay for drinks don't order until you're in show. We arrived about 9.35 & gave a table number which was near front of stage. You can order food for table but we just had sangria & they do ask regularly if you need a refill. We thought the show was great, from costumes to vocals. Been to lots of west end shows but you're not going to get that kind of staging but thought it all worked well and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Great value. Went back on last night to order food & cocktails on the terrace and it was fantastic.

Not for me - This wasn’t for me; didn’t enjoy. Had high hopes after seeing house of illusions but it just didn’t do it for me. I love musicals, I love west end but the production of this was poor. I wasn’t expecting west end but I was expecting something better than it was. The show seemed flung together, and just wasn’t great imo. It’s way overpriced for what it is, whereas house of illusions was worth every penny. I think it’s worth pointing out paying extra for gold isn’t worth it for this show, in fact silver tickets had the better view of the cast/show Given they come out between tables and sing etc no use to people that paid extra for Gold unless you want to break your neck looking behind you to watch the cast. The duration definitely isn’t 3hrs. Our show didn’t start until 10:40pm (40mins late) and it was finished by 12:40. On a more positive note they were good singers, The dancers were great also, unfortunately the show and production as a whole wasn’t great.

Total disappointment - We were recommended to come here from a Facebook group and got cheaper tickets from their sister bar but we were so disappointed We arrived at 9:30 as advised to be told nothing was ready and wouldn’t be ready until 10:30 even though show was meant to start at 10. We got told to wait at the bar outside and I waited 40 mins to get a drink- went to two different counters to be told we would come to your table and no one came. The vibe was really uncomfortable and felt unwelcome. We decided to leave after waiting 45 minutes after realising our 1.5 hour show was gonna end up more like 40 minutes Would not recommend
