The sulphur mine, also known as “La Vieille Dame,” is actually a relatively young volcano situated in the French Antilles, specifically in Guadeloupe. The highest peak in the Lesser Antilles reaches an elevation of 1,467 meters. Saint-Claude, the highest town in the Lesser Antilles, provides the easiest access to the “Old Lady.” At Domaine de la Ville, on the slopes of La Soufrière, visitors can enjoy hot water baths (Les Bains Jaunes) where they can swim and relax. However, it is advised not to submerge your head underwater to avoid amoebae. The main focus and central feature is La Soufrière, viewed “in 360°” or nearly so. During this “Shooting Tour,” various stops will be made, allowing you to unwind and capture photos of the Soufrière massif, stretching from the oldest part in the commune of Sainte-Rose to the southern tip of the island of Basse-Terre, passing through the slopes of La Soufrière via the city of Saint-Claude.
