Sapa - Between 6:30 and 7:00 AM, you will depart from your Hanoi hotel with Topas Mountain Express for a 5-hour transfer to Topas Ecolodge. Upon checking into your bungalow, you can relax and take in the stunning and tranquil views of the surrounding mountains and valleys from your private balcony.

Topas Ecolodge - In the afternoon, embark on a cycling tour by following the main road for three kilometers to Lech village, home to the Red Dao minority. Enjoy the breathtaking valley views along the way. Here, you will leave your bikes and take a short walk on a dirt road to visit a traditional Red Dao family, experiencing the culture of the minority villagers who live peacefully as their ancestors did. Returning to the parking area, continue your ride to Moi village, where you can observe women engaged in embroidery, a craft for which the Red Dao are renowned. After visiting the village, return to the Lodge. In the evening, consider booking a traditional Red Dao herbal bath at the lodge’s spa.

Cycling Adventure to Tay, Xa Pho, and Red Dao Villages in Sapa’s Remote Areas

Ban Ho Village - Begin your journey from Topas Ecolodge, cycling on a quiet road before descending to Ban Ho village. At the valley’s base, you will meet the Tay minority, one of Sapa’s largest ethnic groups, known for their beautiful traditional stilt houses. You will receive a warm welcome to visit their homes and experience their daily life of farming and fishing in the river.

Sapa - After leaving Ban Ho village, the ride becomes more challenging with uphill sections on a winding road. At Thanh Phu village, also inhabited by the Tay minority, enjoy lunch with a local family while taking in the valley views and savoring local cuisine. In the afternoon, pass by My Son village of the Xa Pho ethnic minority, one of Vietnam’s smallest ethnic groups. Continue riding deeper into the mountains to Nam Cang village, home to the Red Dao minority. Nam Cang is located in Sapa’s most remote area. The Red Dao women wear some of the most colorful and diverse costumes among Vietnam’s ethnic groups. They are highly skilled in herbal baths, local medicine, and embroidery. If time allows, take a swim in the river next to Topas Riverside Lodge before meeting your vehicle for the return journey to Topas Ecolodge. Approximate difficulty: Moderate/ 5.5 hours of biking.

Returning from the Mountains to the Bustling City Life of Hanoi

Topas Ecolodge - After breakfast, check out and board the shuttle bus at 9:00 AM to Sapa town. Meet your guide and start your ride, mostly downhill, through Sapa’s suburbs. Pass through Sapa town before heading downhill to Ma Tra village of the Black H’mong. Stop along the way for photos and to visit local houses. The Black H’mong are the majority group in Sapa, known for their exquisite embroidery. Continue on quiet roads through a beautiful valley, heading to Ta Phin. At the village, take a short walk to explore the village and the culture of the Red Dao. Later, board the car for the journey back to Sapa. Approximate distance: 11.3 km biking/ 2.5 hours/ 20 minutes walking.

• Due to limited space, guests are requested to bring only 1 cabin bag/suitcase 115cm (56cm x 36cm x 23cm) per person.
• No supported car during the biking time.
• When joining a tour, one of the most important parts is selecting the right bike. Topas provides mountain bikes that are suitable for people from 155cm only. Client’s height is requested at the booking time or at least 24 hours in advance for smooth services.
• Biking tours offer up and downhill segments. For safety, these tours are advisable for adults or children from 13-year-old up (For smaller children, please contact us) who are familiar with mountain road biking.
