- Mount Gahinga - At 5:00 am, guests will be picked up from their hotel in Kigali and driven for 3 hours to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for registration and a briefing about the hike and what to expect.
Park rangers and guides will be assigned to lead the hike through bamboo forests, offering the chance to spot mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, elephants, and bushbucks, along with various bird species. Additionally, hikers can enjoy breathtaking views of other Virunga Volcanoes from a distance, inspiring a desire to explore them as well.
The hike up Mount Gahinga takes 6-8 hours, with the ascent offering stunning views as the peak comes into sight. Upon reaching the swamp-dominated summit, participants can take photos, enjoy their packed lunch or snacks, and rest before preparing to descend the mountain.
Afterward, the descent via ladders leads back to the park headquarters, followed by a drive back to Kigali or to a lodge.
