Fantastic valley - The whole area is immaculately maintained. The information boards , leaflet and numbered stops are extremely informative. We had a great quiet walk to lake. There are shuttles available but we walked back in about 45 mins. Overall a lovely few hours in beautiful scenery

Great geothermal vally to visit - Excellent self guided tour. Sadly we did not have time to do the lake boat ride. Allow 2.5hrs for the self guided tour with free bus return from the lake.

An absolute must! - This valcanic valley walk was the best geothermic excursion we had. It was the only one nearby RotoruA we could do woth an unguided walk. The walkingtrack is split in 3 parts, one after the other. After each track you can take a pick-bus to bring you back to the entrance. The walking path is of good quality, not for wheelchairs, because there are some stairs. The map you get gives some explanation points. But the app (free) gives even more. We enjoyed this trip very much.

Excellent adventure - We have been very lucky to have traveled extensively and the valley has to be right up there with one of our best adventures. The walk is in three stages and the first lake is definitely a good start….vapour covering the lake and pouring out from rocks on the other side. As you continue down the different rock colours and bubbling holes in the rocks make the whole adventure very special. I can’t emphasise how special this is, based on what could happen in terms of volcanic eruptions at any time as you walk down the pathways it’s always on your mind…special 👏👏

Unspoilt New Zealand - What a beautiful park! We chose this over the more highly advertised volcanic parks as this was true New Zealand beauty. The day we went it was drizzling, but it didn't take away from the beauty at all. You go at your own pace and the signage was excellent with thorough descriptions. Frying Pan lake was beautiful and some of the bubbly spings were beautiful shades of greens. A large assortment of birds and swans add to the allure.

Lovely walk - Away from all the tacky adrenaline tourist bits this was a real find. We’d spent several days in the car travelling and wanted to get out and do some walking. It’s a relatively easy walk on well maintained pathways in three stages ( you choose where to stop) and mostly downhill. Great views and informative signs throughout giving the history of the valley and what to look for. The great part is not having to walk back (uphill) as the bus picks you up. Only slight negative is the price but this is privately owned and run and the standard of the facilities and pathways reflects this. It didn’t put us off ( or a lot of other folk we talked to)

The walk is not as... - The walk is not as strenuous as much of the published information suggests. That said it’s better undertaken by strong walkers only and be prepared for poor weather!
