An excellent morning really learning about Māori culture - An amazing morning with Patrick spent learning about Māori history, recent struggles and the revival of Māori culture. All of this whilst seeing the stunning views around Rotorua. It’s not just a superficial tour with a bit of haka and Māori dress but an opportunity to really understand with a helpful and honest guide. Works best if you are willing to engage and learn so definitely best for adults or older teens. This was the most authentic and interesting morning we spent on North Island.

Insightful and engaging. Great experience. - Nga here picked us up from our hotel in his very comfortable car and brought us on an adventure into his Moari heritage, culture and family. With his enthusiastic and lively storytelling he brought us from back in time to the present times of a long line of his family members, their beliefs & traditions and their lifestyle. He really touched on every aspect of the Moari history, always ensuring it remained intriguing and entertaining. Visited his ancestors hall and even his personal family farm. Even after over 3 hours of touring we didn't lose interest and we're sad to bid him farewell after the tour. Nga here made a true Maori impact on us. So happy.

Personal Maori Tour - We would highly recommend taking this tour with Patrick. He is personally committed to the Maori life along with his family and community. His knowledge of recent events as regards New Zealand and the Maori culture are enlightening. Well worth every cent.

Excellent Maori Cultural Tour - We, two couples traveling together, thoroughly enjoyed our 3-hour Maori Cultural tour with Patrick in his comfortable Range Rover. He shared his ancestors' and his families' stories of their lives (both past and present) in New Zealand. The experience at his tribal gathering site was especially moving as he welcomed us in with Maori chants/songs to their sacred space. He was a fount of information about living an authentic Maori life in Rotorua. We highly recommend this tour to travelers who are looking to learn about native culture and to support a local guide business.

Amazingly personal insights into Mauri history and culture. Awesome ! - My wife and I spent 3 hours with Patrick today. A genuine descendent of the original local Mauri people and steeped in his tribal and family history. A tour guide like no other we have ever met. So willing to share his knowledge and his passion for the broader understanding of Mauri culture. And that’s what we came for. Awesome !! … we throughly recommend any like minded folk to take this tour without any hesitation. You won’t be disappointed !!

Very informative and enjoyable - A great insight into the local Māori culture. Patrick gave a very in depth and respectful overview of the traditions and the way in which the Māori community came together to express their beliefs and support each other. We also learned about how the treaty of Waitangi had an impact on the custodians of the land. Very informative. I would highly recommend this tour when visiting Rotorua.

Authentic not formal - I appreciated hearing from a local who could share generations of family knowledge and perspective about caring for the environment. If you want a formal tour with a linear historical narrative like in a museum, this is not for you. But if you want some authenticity and a chance to connect with someone as a human being who will answer any question openly, you can get your cup filled. Kia oro.

Go as tourists but leave as family - This is a long over due review. Honestly I could write a novel on how amazing this particular tour was… I booked a trip to New Zealand for the first time to celebrate my birthday and getting hired at my new job. I invited everyone close to me but only my Dad and Sister came along for this adventure to New Zealand. My sister and I booked this tour not really knowing what we were signing up for…let me tell you…if you have any interest in this experience—Do it!!!! Hare and his nephew treat us like family. I can honestly say we hated to leave them when the tour was over. We were actually considering staying the night just so we could continue to talk, laugh, and meet the rest of our new extended family. My Dad still talks about going back to sit with our cousins by the lake. We can’t wait to visit New Zealand again. The plan is to spend time with our cousins in the most beautiful part of that amazing country.

Bad Experience - Our experience with tis organization was very poor. This tour was booked by our travel agent more than a year ago and was the reason for us coming to Rotorua. Neatly signed up a day in advance (as ask) and in the evening at the Lodge we were given a confirmation of what time to be ready the next morning. At 8.45 we were waiting until 9.15. So we called. Yes the guide was not there yet but they would call at some point.(NO OWN INITIATIVE) HALF AN OUR TOO LATE) At 9.33 : the guide is on his way. At 9.39: the guide is not coming he is sick. He was last night too. Then a phone call is easily made you would think but not so. The tour would be cancelled. Asked if there was an alternative, we were told there was a tour in the afternoon but it was fully booked. Asked to book us in anyway in, if necessary a bigger car. At 10.17: the afternoon tour was also cancelled? Do they only have 1 guide then?? They had no alternative for us only the next day in the afternoon but at that time we are already to our next address. On our suggestion to look at competitors was a good idea, she would message us. Never heard anything more. That someone is sick I can understand that but not that there is no plan B. You are leaving us as guests (customers) out in the cold because it is too late to organise anything else. A LOUSY ORGANISATION. Will strongly advise our travel agent to book another tour for future guests. I will also post a negative comment on the travel agent's site.
