Amazing experience of culture fun and excitement - AMAZING!! Best experience of my trip to New Zealand. We chose the all day tour and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. From the beginning to the end it was wonderful. We were hosted by Matiu and Filli who ensured our comfort and were with us every step of the way. Their knowledge and story telling were on point, they were excellent ambassadors of the Te Pa Tu family. The Jet boat was exilerating, a lot of fun, a beautiful river and lots of history and information....remember to say hi to Boo Boo as you go by!!!🤭
The stairs are steep, but you can do it!!!!. Going into the geothermal landscape was unreal, it's like another world, but then Matiu walked us through and spoke about its history with his Maori tribe, and the fact thT this was their winter home, where they moved when the weather was cold, it came alive in so mNy different ways then. We talked of the plants that gre there, there properties and medicines, this is real history of their ancestors. We then went to Te Pa Tu, a wonderful experience, from the meeting of the Warriors outside the village, the welcome by the Chief, the participating in the activities, the poi, the sticks, the learning the haka,all with fun, laughter and storytelling, wonderful. The performance, I was so busy watching I forgot to film! Such a talented family!!! The dinner was so good, the opportunity to taste so many dishes, served family style. Had a good time with the folks seated at my table people from far and near. A really amazing experience, one I recommend any visitor to New Zealand to experience! We came as strangers, and left as family!
