Once inside, you can fully appreciate the room’s grandeur, noticing the small details and quirks often overlooked. Please Note: From January 12 to March 31, 2026, the Vatican Museums will conduct a dedicated preservation project on Michelangelo’s “Last Judgment” in the Sistine Chapel. To ensure specialists can work safely and thoroughly, the entire wall with the fresco will be covered by scaffolding during the project. The Sistine Chapel will remain open to visitors, though this specific artwork will be temporarily hidden during the restoration. We appreciate your patience and understanding as essential conservation work is carried out on this extraordinary masterpiece.
