The Beauty of Rome, and some secrets too... - Do you know the secret of the church of St. Ignatious? Neither did we. But Sarah, our tour guide on the "Dolce Vita" tour, not only told us, but was able to show us the awesome scene, right at the start of the tour! We went on to learn a few more amazing secrets that I won't give away (including who just might have the best hot chocolate and gelato in the city), in addition to seeing some of the most iconic landmarks in the city and having our photo taken at them. Definitely a great tour that I would recommend to anyone interested in seeing The Eternal City at night.

Amazing - If you are planning your trip to Rome you must book your private tour with Maximus tours, they are great, we booked the Colosseum and the Vatican. We asked to have our tour in Portuguese and they did a awesome job. Isabella was our guide at the Vatican the line was huge but we were able to skip the line she knows a lot didn't even feel like we were walking for 3 hours . At the Colosseum we had Ana also in Portuguese she was so nice amazing guide. We had 2 kids 9 and 3 years old the guide were so nice with our kids we recommend Maximus with our eyes close.

So good we booked 2 - Vatican & Colosseum - Vatican tour 1st with Christiana, she was wonderful and made it a really interesting few hours. Started at the Vatican Museum, walking through the ex popes rooms and apartments with paintings by Raffaello etc - just amazing and the amount of artwork and statues collected make it well worth seeing, you have to love Michaelangelo for what he has left us. The gardens were beautiful and the summer/winter palaces grand too. Made our way past all the tapestries, my favourite were the maps though, so accurate and colourful, finally led to the Sistine Chapel - the guards are a bit uptight to say the least shouting at everyone to be quiet, but the were so loud, ironic really! Memories that will stay with me for a long time, we were then guided towards the Basilica where we were free to visit on our own, another amazing space in a beautiful city. Next - Colosseum tour with Jamie (not one of the usual Maximus guides) but very informative also. Prepare to walk some distance from the Monument at Piazza Venezia up to the Colosseum, dodging groups of the young teenage girls (pickpockets), great time of year to go as the queues weren't too bad, be warned that people can stand in line in the sun for hours July/Aug & have been known to pass out and never make the tour! We started by taking the stairs up inside the Colosseum (lifts are available), what a sight to see once inside, very impressive even though its mainly recreated after several earthquakes and destruction over the centuries, who knew that people lived there until the 1930's - I didn't. Then wlked around to the Forum and walked up the hill to a viewing point with a great view of the surrounding temples, columns and architecture. Another wonderful day that we won't forget, well done Maximus Tours, money well spent.

Excellent Colosseum & Vatican Tours! - We had booked the Colosseum Tour and Vatican Tour for our vacation in Rome and were very happy we did! Both of these tours were excellent and well worth the money. We had Patrizia as our Vatican tour guide and she was very nice and knowledgeable about the history of the Vatican and the city of Rome. Our guide for the Colosseum tour was Dani and she as well was very friendly and informative about the history of Rome. Both guides were able to answer any questions we had about the history of the city and monuments we were visiting. Even though you can't cover everything in just 3 hours on these tours, it prepared us with relevant and useful information so we could go back by ourselves and walk at our own pace. We highly recommend these tours to anyone visiting Rome!

La Dolce Vita Tour - I could not think of a better way to start our vacation to Rome than with this 2.5 hour tour. It was our first time in the city and Daniela provided an outstanding walking tour of central Rome which included many fountains, piazzas, and squares. The tour started at 6:00 in the evening which made it magical. It was also so helpful for us as she gave us great tips on getting around Rome and pointed out some of her favorite restaurants and shops as we were walking from site to site. We also stopped for gelato along the way. Daniela was a wonderful guide as well! Well worth it and would recommend to anyone going to Rome!

THREE EXCELLENT TOURS IN ROME - La Dolce Vita Tour - Great first day tour to get familiar with Rome and the main attractions/monuments. I can honestly say if we didn’t do this tour it would have taken us hours to find each monument and read up on the history and story behind them. David was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. We had plenty of time to take pictures, chat to David, have breaks including tasting the best ice cream we've ever had and overall learnt so much, it really is worth doing this tour on the first day. Vatican Tour - Not only do you skip the huge line but you really do get an in depth explanation of the museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica (believe you me there's plenty to see). Anna guided us through at our own pace, as this tour is a very tiring mainly because of the heat and the fact the place is usually packed full of other tours but Anna kept us all motivated and we never lost interest and learnt so much, you really couldn’t tour this place without a guide it really is mind blowing how much you see and learn but Anna was fab yet another friendly, knowledgeable and so patient guide. Colosseum Tour - Very pleasantly surprised that the tour included the ruins of roman forums around the Colosseum and then obviously the Colesseum itself. Once again we learnt so much. Skipped the huge line to the Colesseum and even skipped the lengthy steps to the top of the Colesseum via a lift (which is bliss when you've been walking around for two hours in the heat). Danni was lovely, yet again another friendly, knowledgeable and patient guide. She had plenty of pictures to show us what the temples, ruins and Colesseum would have looked like in its hay day, so you really get a good insight and understanding of the surroundings. Overall I wouldn’t use any other tours then Maximus, you really won’t be disappointed. The amount you learn is worth the money. Perfect English speaking guides, very friendly to chit chat too, walk at your own pace through all the tours to take plenty of photos. Every guide also recommended place's to see, things to do, tips/trick and bars/restaurants. The tours we had consisted of 4 of us in total apart from the Vatican tour (8 people) which is tiny compared to the herds of people on other tours around Rome. They also made sure we always had plenty of water and time to sit and have a breather for a few minutes every so often which is vital. Excellent is an understatement!

Outstanding tour and tour guide! - My husband and I had only 2 days in Rome on the way back from a cruise and were fortunate enough to have booked 2 tours with Maximus. We had no trouble finding the meeting place at the Vittorio Emmanuel Monument and we had a group of nine people, so it was easy staying together and hearing everything Danielle said. She had a lovely presentation and showed us pictures of what the ruins probably looked like in their glory days, which made visualization so much easier. It is important to have good walking shoes, especially for the Roman Forum visit, as the surfaces are very uneven and the walk is difficult in places. We could tell that Dani really loves history because she is so knowledgeable. When she took us to the Colosseum she spent so much time with us even after the tour time was really over, making sure we had all of our questions answered. We highly recommend Maximus tours.
