Then we’ll learn about the iconic fountain of la Barcaccia, which is still today fed with an ancient Roman aqueduct of over 2000 years! And this is where our journey through water starts..

  You’ll learn that pretty much anything in Rome can turn into a museum, because the modern city is literally built on top of the ancient one! In fact underground this mall we’ll get to see the ruins of the only ancient Roman aqueduct still functioning today!
• Trevi Fountain - The iconic Trevi fountain, one of the most photographed spot in Rome. But how many people know of its significance? You’ll learn of the legends and stories which go hand-in-hand with the fountain, since ancient Roman times until today.
• Vicus Caprarius – the City of Water - Here you’ll learn where all the water of the Trevi fountain comes from! We’ll walk underground to explore the ancient water tank of the aqueduct built in 19BC! This place is such a “lasagna” of history, with layers of buildings and homes of people that have lived here through the centuries. People just like us today..

The tour begins at the Spanish Steps, where participants will discover fascinating details about their history and the origin of their name (prepare to be amazed!).

Near the Spanish Steps, the first fountain of the tour awaits. This marks the start of an exploration of Rome’s aqueducts! Remarkably, this fountain is still supplied by an ancient Roman aqueduct constructed in 19 BC!

The tour will follow the aqueduct, which is mostly hidden underground. As the group strolls along this path, they will encounter sections of the aqueduct emerging amidst modern architecture.

The journey continues along the aqueduct to its grand finale: the Trevi Fountain. However, the tour doesn’t end there.

The group will escape the bustling crowds, take a turn, and uncover the underground water reservoir that the ancient Romans engineered over 2000 years ago!

Throughout this walking tour, participants will not only visit specific sites but also gain insights into how modern Rome was developed around these ancient ruins.
