Construction of the Colosseum commenced in 72 AD under Emperor Vespasian and was completed in 80 AD during Emperor Titus’s reign. Upon completion, it became the largest Roman amphitheater, measuring 188 meters in length, 156 meters in width, and 57 meters in height.
