Pompei was a large and diverse city with a healthy mix of wealthy elite, merchants, artisans, and slaves whose lives you’ll get a crystal-clear glimpse of on a 2-hour walking tour.
After some rest-and-recharge at an authentic pizzeria, a short transfer will take us to our second destination.
Less than half the size of Pompeii, Herculaneum was a small coastal city characterized by remarkably preserved wooden structures and vibrant frescoes. With an expert guide by your side, walk in the footsteps of the noble Romans who once called this lost city home.
Upon conclusion of your tour, a short transfer will bring you back to Naples Station, where your fast train back to Rome awaits!

This was an amazing... - This was an amazing experience. To experience what life was like in Ancient times. Soo much history. Our guide Antonio is very knowledgeable. He was like an opened history book. I love having a guide who was explaining what we were looking at. It made the experience even better. We also enjoyed the the lunch break that was included. I love how everything was planned out and taken care of. Especially from having a guide to meet us at the train station, teaching us how to navigate the station and a guide bringing us back to the train station to get back to Rome. Thank you!!!

Great tour with a great guide! - Great tour, great lunch and amazing guide! Wear comfortable shoes and your listening ears because there is a lot to learn and a ton of walking. The lunch was better than we expected, you get a selection to choose from and a FULL meal complete with appetizers, main dish, drink and dessert. Herculaneum was just as interesting as Pompeii and is well worth the time to tour. The group size was good and we were there on a good day so the crowds were not bad at all and we were able to see everything up close.

Wonderful day. Great guide!!!!!! - This was an amazing day. One of the highlights of our vacation. Our guide, Vincent, was excellent. Very friendly, personable, funny and rich with information. We were most impressed that he is clearly a scholar of history, and is a life long learner and researcher. When one of our group, for example, suggested why the mortar in the walls became stronger over time, Vincent became very interested and wanted to learn more about it. He tailored the tour to what our group was most interested in. We were well taken care of by Italia Tours. Met at the train station, given our tickets and that guide made sure we were on the right train. Vincent met us in Napoli and stayed with us until we were back on the train. Lunch was a bit of a disappointment-mediocre pizza-but it was quick and convenient. I would highly recommend this day trip and felt that the price was fair.

What an amazing tour! - What a fabulous tour this was! Very well organised from the email instructions to the Termini station to Pompeii/Herculaneum and back again. We felt it was a brilliant experience. Our tour guide Federica, was a fount of knowledge and so warm and funny, she really made the information accessible to all. She brought the cities back to life for you, and just really made you consider the human element. Just to note though it is a full on experience and you will be walking most of the day. But, we were so fascinated that it wasn’t until I realised my feet were going numb from all the walking that realisation hit about how much we had actually walked. I do highly recommend this tour and company. Did it with my husband and 9-year old and we all loved it.

Definitely recommend for history nerds - This experience was brilliant. Our guide, Felicia, was incredibly knowledgeable about both sites as she has studied and worked to restore parts of each. As a History Teacher I found this tour informative and Felicia was more than happy to share her knowledge with me.

An excellent way to visit both Pompeii and Herculaneum from Rome in a day. - An excellent way to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum from Rome. The guide (Felicia) was very knowledgeable and her experience as an archeologist and conservationist made the experience more valuable. The contrast between both sites was made more tangible through her commentary and insights.

Very knowledgeable guide - who brought the history to life - We had a wonderful day in Pompeii, followed by an amazing Pizza lunch, and then on to Herculaneum. Our guide, Felicia, was so knowledgeable. She had a PhD in archeology, was a professional restorer, and had deep family roots in the Pompeii region. She made the history come to life. I would highly recommend the tour, and especially Felicia as the guide.

A great tour to get a 1 day overview of Pompeii &Herculaneum. Well worth it! - This tour was well paced and although a very full day was worthwhile. Great guide. Very helpful getting on and off trains and bus inbetween. The guide was knowledgeable, personable and very helpful. A great way to see the best parts of Pompeii and Herculaneum sites in a comprehensive way and get a good understanding of both sites. Not too rushed, and very good tour! Local Pizza lunch ok too! Lots of fun and information!

Vincenzo is the best tour guide! - This was an absolutely amazing experience. I originally booked for six people, but about a month before our trip we had an additional person join us. I wasn’t able to edit the booking through the app like I had done with another excursion, so I booked the extra ticket separately and messaged the company. They assured me we would all still be able to stay together for the whole day — and they delivered. They even made sure we were seated together on the train rides both ways.
Meeting the tour operator at the train station was very easy, and they walked us directly to our car. The directions for meeting our guide after arriving in Napoli were very clear — and that’s where we met the man who truly took the day above and beyond: Vincenzo!
Vincenzo is absolutely incredible at his job. The day of our tour was a little chilly and rainy, and considering how long the excursion is, it would’ve been easy for people to feel tired or bored. But not with Vincenzo. He speaks with such passion and energy. It’s not a tour where someone just rattles off facts; he tells stories. He brings everything to life. If I could have hired him for every tour during our entire stay in Rome, I absolutely would have.
Others in our group said the same thing — Vincenzo truly made this day a wonderful and unforgettable experience.
