• Circus Maximus - This serves as our meeting point if the hotel pick-up option is not selected. It is the largest stadium from the Roman era, with only a few remnants visible today.
• Sepolcro degli Scipioni - Shortly after entering the Appian Way, we will encounter the tomb of the Scipios, one of the most ancient and prestigious Roman families.
• Terme di Caracalla - As we drive along the “archaeological walk,” we will see the vast complex of the Baths of Caracalla on the right.
• Appian Way (Via Appia Antica) - After passing the Baths of Caracalla, we begin our journey on the Via Appia Antica, the most renowned Roman road.
• Arco Di Druso - After passing the tomb of the Scipios, we will go under the Arch of Drusus, a grand monument from the Roman era.
• Catacombs of Saint Callixtus - Upon reaching the catacombs, we will be greeted by lush and unexpected nature, with olive trees, cypress-lined roads, and green meadows, reminiscent of Tuscany! This will be our most significant stop, where an expert guide will lead a small group tour inside the Catacombs.
• Chiesa del Domine Quo Vadis - After viewing the footprint of Jesus inside St Sebastian, we will visit this iconic church, which holds a valuable replica of Jesus’ footprint.
• Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella e Castrum Caetani - Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica - A symbol of the Appian Way, this is its most significant and majestic monument. Initially a mausoleum, it was later transformed by the Caetani family into a Castrum. An external visit is planned, but those interested can enter independently to explore the mausoleum, with ticket purchase required.
• Porta San Sebastiano - Just a few meters past the Arch of Drusus, we find one of Rome’s most famous access gates, part of the impressive Aurelian walls, which can be admired here in one of their most beautiful sections.
