Great option if tight on time - Really nice tour in a short amount of time it was perfect for me and my 19 year old daughter. So much to cover but we got a nice overview.

Average - Not all of the participants’ earpieces worked which meant that we didn’t get the full commentary from our guide. Also, we found the guide hard to understand as his English wasn’t clear.

Okay experience - This was a one hour guided tour of the colosseum only. You get the Roman pass which allows entry to Palatine Hill but that part is not a guided tour. With a guide, you get to skip the lines to the Colosseum since there is a separate entrance. That was nice. We learned alot. Our guide was in a rush to finish the tour quickly. rude to other tourists multiple times, but not to us.

The fast and the furious - It was fantastic to see these amazing places but we have never been so rushed through a tour. The tour was due to start at 12pm and we walked from the meeting point at 12pm for 15 minutes with an organiser to then meet the guide at 12.15pm From there we were hurried along with a family of 5, I couldn't even tell which one was our guide, there was no introduction, when I worked out who the guide was I had to ask his name, it was just rush rush rush. Barely a moment to take pictures from one point to the rest. He seemed very stressed, constantly looking at his watch like he had somewhere else to be. At one point he gave us 7 minutes to look around and take a picture. He was very knowledgeable and knew his history but it was hard to concentrate on what he had to say while almost running to keep up and not trip up on the cobble stones. The only time he seemed to calm down was when we got to the Colosseum and the tour was almost over. He spent 10 mins here speaking about the history before collecting our headsets and showing us the way out. 3 sites all over by 1.30pm All up 1 hour and 15 mins for almost $500 Australia dollars. Not worth more than $100 each. I do not recommend, look for another company.

Disappointed - Was not good. The guide did not explain anything just rushed through everything. Didn’t know what we were looking at or where we were. Didn’t let us take pictures. He lost one of our members of our group because he was trying to take pictures. Thank god he found us at our last stop. Very disappointed.

Do not book this - I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was genuinely one of the most disorganized and unprofessional tours I have ever experienced. This tour only happened because my original Viator booking was cancelled the morning of and I was rebooked onto this one last minute. After experiencing it, I now understand why there was availability. The chaos started before the tour even began. I received a random WhatsApp message from someone claiming the tour time had been changed by 30 minutes. When I tried confirming through both WhatsApp and the official Viator contact, nobody responded. I decided to show up at the original time just in case — which turned out to be the correct decision, because had we arrived at the “updated” time, we would have missed the group entirely. At the meeting point near the Colosseum, there was no signage, no visible guide, and no organization whatsoever. After calling the number provided, someone nearby answered and essentially said, “Thank goodness you’re here, we’ll start in 10 minutes.” We later discovered every couple in our group had been given different meeting times — some earlier, some later. It felt incredibly sketchy and poorly managed from the outset. The guide then arrived smoking a cigarette and immediately gave the impression that he did not want to be there. He appeared extremely disengaged, low-energy, and honestly unwell. This was advertised as an English-speaking historical tour, but throughout the experience he mumbled, spoke unclearly, and struggled significantly to communicate coherent information in English. We then backtracked all the way to the Roman Forum and didn’t even enter the site until roughly 40 minutes after the scheduled start time. During that entire period, the guide shared virtually nothing of substance — no history, no context, no introduction to the monuments. The only notable commentary was suggesting people buy water, seemingly because he wanted to stop for water himself. Once inside the Forum, things somehow got worse. The audio headsets were terrible — constant static, feedback, and interruptions made it difficult to hear anything. Even when we could hear him, the information was confusing, inconsistent, and often difficult to follow. Questions from the group were either ignored or answered vaguely. At one point, another guest realized we were missing a member of the tour entirely. The guide had lost someone from the group. Instead of continuing the experience professionally, we spent a significant portion of the already limited tour standing around while he repeatedly spoke over the headset trying to direct the missing guest back to us. He openly stated he mainly needed to find the person because otherwise he would be charged €40 for the headset. We spent approximately 10–15 minutes doing this during a tour that already felt rushed and lacking in content. The Roman Forum portion lasted maybe 30 minutes total, and a substantial portion of that was spent waiting around rather than learning anything meaningful. The Colosseum portion was even more disappointing. The only real benefit of this tour was skipping the entry line. Once inside, the guide brought us to a video display area near the lower outer level, gave a few brief comments, and then abruptly announced the tour was over. We had spent maybe 10 minutes inside the actual Colosseum before being told we could “explore on our own.” So to be clear: this was essentially not a guided tour at all. The entire experience felt chaotic, disorganized, misleading, and deeply unprofessional. I have taken many tours while traveling and have never experienced anything remotely this poorly executed — especially through a platform like Viator, which I previously trusted for quality control. I would strongly recommend booking literally any other Colosseum/Roman Forum tour.

Scam - Did not receive professional guide or put into a small group. We were told to go on our own, so we are disputing the charge
