- Museum and Crypt of Capuchins - Santa Maria Immacolata is the Capuchins church in Rome, constructed by Pope Urban VIII Barberini in the 17th century. It is located near Piazza Barberini on Via Veneto, one of Rome’s most renowned streets, famously featured in Federico Fellini’s film, La Dolce Vita.
Within the church, visitors can admire works by Guido Reni (St. Michael the Archangel), Domenichino, Pietro da Cortona, Gherardo delle Notti, Antonio Sacchi, among others. The intriguing Crypt-museum is adorned with the bones of 4,000 friars. Additionally, a masterpiece by Caravaggio, “The Meditation of St. Francis,” is also on display.

Music from the Sistine Chapel by Palestrina, Arcadelt, Morales, Victoria, Pitoni, Agazzari, and Gregorian chants will be performed live by the Schola Romana Ensemble, our resident group specializing in historically informed music.

Celebrate in a distinctive and extraordinary manner by joining us at the Capuchins Convent Hall for a special Christmas Baroque Concert, performed “a cappella” by the renowned Schola Romana Ensemble.
This event beautifully captures the essence of the Christmas spirit through the power of sacred music and includes a tour of the Capuchin Museum and Crypt, offering insights into the history and devotion of the Franciscans.
The musical program highlights compositions from the Sistine Chapel by Palestrina, Arcadelt, and Morales, along with live Gregorian chants performed by the Schola Romana Ensemble, our resident group specializing in historically informed music.
Following the concert, attendees will be guided to the Capuchin Museum and Crypt for an independent tour with the assistance of an audioguide, available in 13 languages. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire “Saint Francis in Meditation,” a masterpiece by Caravaggio, and be captivated by the 4,000 bones of Capuchin friars that form the breathtaking decorations of the Crypt.
