Participants will explore the ruins in detail, learning about their construction and significance, and discussing notable figures in Roman history and monuments such as basilicas, porticos, Trajan’s Market, the Column of Trajan, and nearby museums. The tour will then continue to the Capitoline Hill.

Roman Forum - En route to Campidoglio Square, the stunning square designed by Michelangelo, the tour will pause at several terraces to view and discuss the Roman Forum. Highlights include the Arches of Triumph, the Temples of Vesta, Castor and Pollux, and Saturn, the Roman Senate House, basilicas, and more. At the square, participants will admire the palaces designed by Michelangelo, the equestrian bronze statue of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and other Roman and Renaissance sculptures.

Teatro di Marcello - The final stop will be the second theater built in Rome, the Theater of Marcellus. The tour will cover its construction, purpose, and its intriguing connection to the Colosseum, as well as its historical and current uses. Additionally, the Temple of Apollo and the Porticus of Octavia will be visited, concluding with some final tips about the area, including the Jewish Ghetto.

Colosseum - The tour begins at the Colosseum, where it will be explained and discussed from excellent vantage points, allowing participants to appreciate all its details and learn about its history, function, construction techniques, and more.
The tour does not include entry into the Colosseum, as this would consume the entire tour duration. However, the tour can be arranged to end at this location, allowing guests to enter with all the information and insights provided beforehand.

The tour includes a discussion on the timeline of ancient Rome’s history, with visits to the Roman Forum, the 5 Imperial Fora, the Colosseum (viewed from the outside), Campidoglio Square, Trajan’s Column, the Theater of Marcellus, the Portico of Octavia, and concludes in the Ghetto area.
Throughout the tour, participants will explore and discuss various buildings, sculptures, and the life and politics of ancient Rome, as well as its connection to the modern city.
