This Altun Ha, Cave Tubing, and Zip-lining tour will depart from Belize City in an air-conditioned vehicle, traveling for 50 minutes along the Old Northern Highway. Altun Ha is the closest excavated Maya Temple to Belize City and is likely the most frequented by school children from across Belize. This stunning Maya Temple, whose name translates to “Rockstone Water,” features expansive open areas. The temples are easy to climb and are not as tall as those at Lamanai and Xunantunich.
After exploring this ancient Maya site, the tour continues west for 90 minutes on the Western Highway to the Cave Tubing & Zipline location. Upon arrival at the outpost, participants will receive a basic orientation and safety briefing before embarking on a 30-minute hike, which includes crossing a few knee-deep water streams. The walk is not daunting, as it is mostly on flat terrain, making it both enjoyable and educational. The rainforest canopy provides shade, and the tour guides will highlight notable flora and fauna in the area.
