challenging and fun game master

I thought it was going to be way more scarier then the actual description, and there was no jump scares. But beyond that it was very fun and pleasant experience!

I have been to approximately eight escape rooms in last two years. This was, by far, the worst experience I have encountered. The game leader was subdued and annoyed with the six of us. Understandably so. Four of our teammates consisted of a father from Toronto, his 16 year old daughter and two of her friends. I brought an out of town friend. From the beginning, our team was stumped because the father immediately took over and wanted to be leader and when the rest of the team was looking for clues, the girls only shared information with the dad. Thinking maybe they are not accustomed to team concept, I told my team the clue I found and let’s see how our clues worked together. A second time I mentioned we needed to work as a team instead of them keeping the clues to themselves. We needed help from the team leader numerous times because the father only wanted the three girls and eventually just his daughter to play. Approximately 15 minutes into the game, the father and daughter spoke French to each other. Clearly, they were the only two who spoke French. I told the father I did not know how to speak French and it would be better if we all worked together. He blatantly ignored my friend and me. It was obvious he did not want my friend and me to even be in the same game as them. I realize it is not The Escapery ‘s fault the man was an obnoxious and rude jerk but the leader should have noticed through video feed that the group was not acting as a team. Even if she did not watch us on video, the number of times she had to help us unlock simple clues we should have been able to solve on our own but clues were not shared and in some instances hidden from my friend and me. Absolutely has left a bad taste to return.

The experience was exciting and game master was really great in his role!

We had fun and want to do it again real soon.

Tough to see in the first room, would've been better with a list to have followed. After this experience would never do an escape room again. Very nice tour guide. Didn't seem to have any structure at all.

I have done 3 rooms at The Escapery. The Ripper was a challenge for sure, but we had a great time.
