Good introduction to Latvian produce - Having done some food tours in other countries the first thing to note is that this is a tasting tour around a market and not a sit down experience in multiple restaurants. The price does reflect this. Generally the tour was interesting and informative although due to being in the market we did sometimes find it hard to hear what was being said. The tour itself lasts around 2 hours and during that time we sampled a variety of products including meat, cheese, alcoholic beverages, fish and chocolate. No non alcoholic beverages were offered as a substitute for anyone who didn’t drink which is something that the company might like to consider. Overall it was an interesting and enjoyable introduction to Latvian food, culture and heritage.

Rushed through the market with a huge group - The guide herself was fine, friendly, and she did make an effort to explain the culture and history behind each dish. That said, the tour felt seriously overbooked. There were 20+ people, so it was really hard to hear her explanations, and getting samples felt a bit like a school canteen queue. The pace was also very rushed, with the guide speed-walking through the market and everyone having to hurry to avoid getting left behind. It was especially frustrating because she didn’t want to repeat herself, but also didn’t project her voice enough for the whole group to hear. Overall, the concept is great, but the group size and pacing need improving

Unprofessional behavior overshadows a good tour - The tour started very positively: The first stops were informative, well structured and interesting in terms of content. Unfortunately, the impression changed significantly towards the end of the tour. The tour guide became increasingly abusive and insulting and expressed disrespect for other guests. What was particularly irritating was that she threw food provided in the trash. In addition, the tour was not officially ended, but the tour guide left the group without comment. This behaviour is in no way professional and is not proportionate to the price of the tour.

Would have been good, if the tour happened. - Sadly the tour operator had a meltdown and disappeared. I would try again, if im ever back in the area.

Abandoned in the street - We showed up and met the group and advised there was someone with limited mobility, just a bit slower. Many thought that the tour would talk about things on the way to the market, nothing was offered. We should have just met at the market if there was t any sight seeing. She called and I told her we just had to cross the street. When we caught up - a few minutes later she ran off and never came back only giving text messages that were quite inflammatory. We were all abandoned and everyone received different concerning messages. I hope she’s ok.

The Guide Ditched Us - The guide just left us after we got to the market. She just disappeared and never gave the tour. I have never experienced anything like this. It was extremely unprofessional. I was very much looking forward to the tour. There were about 12 of us .

Where did the guide go? - Tour started out as planned, met at the meeting point, Gina explained how the day would go, all participants arrived, etc. One group had some mobility impaired members and they went ahead with instructions of where the group would meet them. When we got to the meeting point near Riga Central Market, they were not there. The guide disappeared. Most of us thought she went to look for them, but within about 5 minutes the mobility challenged people had arrived and still no guide. We later received messages that our trip was canceled and we’d receive a refund. Other, more disturbing, messages were sent later. All in all, I do hope Guna is ok, but the situation could have been handed much differently.
