The Room with the Ribbed Vault: Decorated with an early mosaic pavement decorated with birds, trees and vases originated from Kos and equipped with 16th-century furniture, the room used to be the office of Cesare Maria De Vecchi. De Vecchi was the one who conceived the program of restoration of the glory of the Knights Hospitallers. This humble room became the siege of the powerful De Vecchi. Listen to our stories in order to learn how the architect Vittorio Mesturino restored the grandeur of the Palace and the fame of the knights.

The self-guided audio tour is designed to start at the entrance of the Palace of the Grand Master. It can be reached either from the west via the D'Amboise gate, or from the Arnaldo gate or the Freedom gate and going up Ippoton (Knights) Street.

Well worth it! - Audio guide is great! Note that the site does not sell audio guides at entry so this was well worth it to appreciate the site. Great price too. Definitely download this guide to understand what you are looking at!

Best companion at the palace - The best and easiest way to get a guided tour of the palace. Without an audio guide you are a bit lost, as there is little information on the spot.
You have to orient yourself a bit, as the rooms are presented differently from the guided path. You can manage that pretty well.

I am a "maybe". - I am a maybe because it took me a while to figure out that I had received a message in the app with a download link. It wasn't visible until after the morning of the scheduled event. Not realizing that I would be downloading the audio to my phone I set out to see the Grand Masters Palace. I arrived. I asked the ticket ladies, the gift shop ladies, the security guard, andy that looked like they might have a clue. Where could I pick up my audio listen device like had at many other places on my trip. I was told by the ticketing office that this was a scam. I was pretty sure that was not the case. After being there for about an hour I finally saw the message eith the link. I downloaded it and went back to the gate to follow the Tour. It was not exactly up to date with the flow of the rooms. It made it hard to follow. There were exhibits going on which probably threw off that flow as rooms were open that were not mentioned on the Tour.
What the audio did have to was informative if you could follow. If I had to do it over again I probably would choose a different way. If you want to do the Tour at your leisure and go as fast or slow as you like then "maybe" this id the option for you.

Over priced and over rated - €20 per person?? And there is little return. Items on display tell no story and the annotation was either missing or difficult to read (faded). Staff listed around the site were gazing at their phones (who can blame them as it was so boring) and they occasionally shouted out when a child touched a stone on display… one chap was equally bored and switched off a light which caused a staff member to have a melt down (that was the highlight of the visit). But hey, you’ve come all this way so give them your €20, have a wonder, have a moan (like me) and leave. Then treat yourself to some amazing food in a roof top terrace… you deserve it!

We purchased tickets to the Grand Rodhos Palace through TripAdvisor, which were not accepted at - On TripAdvisor we bought 2 tickets to the Grand Masters Palace which were not accepted at Welcoming, it's theft

False Advertising - Purchased an audio program that clearly claimed the cost of the ticket to the attraction was €8 but when we got there the entry cost was €20, and additional €12 more than we budgeted for, took so long to get an answer from the tour company and Viator, there wasn't enough time to be able to enjoy the attraction as well as we didn't budget for the additional cost for the 3 of us.
The customer service was disgraceful, simply told there would be no refund with no reason other than bad luck. So disappointed we missed this once in a life time chance.....but it's obvious Viator only care about taking your cash...

No experience to review - Would rate 0 stars if I could - unable to even access this experience as no activation code was emailed to me on the allocated day. Sent a message to the tour operator and received no reply.
Denied a refund
Don't waste tour time and money - Can easily tour and enjoy the palace without this scam.
