No sightings but wonderful tour guide! - Very friendly and knowledgeable crew and guide. We didn’t get to see any marine life and the water was very choppy, but of course that wasn’t the tour company’s fault. But the guide did her best to keep us engaged and pointing out various points of interest and telling us about the marine life that lives in the waters.

Loved it! - I suppose there is luck involved in the timing of whether and how many whales you see. The weather, where the whales are, and all kinds of aspects need to fall in place to see whales in a single 3-hour period . That said, we saw a LOT of whales! The guides struck the right mix of chit chat and education and quiet to let everyone enjoy the boat ride. There is coffee and snacks on board. The boat ride feels 15 degrees (F) colder than the temp on land. So, bundle up and book this tour! You won’t regret it.

Pleasant experiance - We were very lucky as the weather was sunny and warm ( 50s) August 28th. The water was very calm, unusual, we were told. The Rose was an older yacht, semi outfitted for whale watching. It had comfortable seating inside the main cabin. There was food available for sale. The bathroom must have had some plumbing issues, as you were instructed to not flush the toilet tissue, there was a receptacle next to the toilet. The upper deck had bench seating and a table with seating around it and a viewing chair bolted on top of it for the spotter, who I believe was a marine biologist. She was very informative. The ship was perfect for a nice relaxing cruise. It was not fast enough to get as close as the other whale watch boats out there. We did see some Minky Whales floating near the surface, in the distance, a Humpback surfacing and diving, no breaching though darn it ( bucket list of things to see). The big excitement for me was the pod of dolphins speeding around the boat, they were having fun and a joy to whitness. If you want more excitement and to be able to get closer to the action, I would suggest the faster boats. None of the boats use sonar as it is harmful to the whales. All of the boats stay in communication and share sightings. All in all it was a very pleasnt morning.

Misleading … boat not similar at all! - The yacht we rode on was NOT the one pictured and NOT nearly as nice or as large. Seas were rocky and the smaller ship bounced around ALOT … we did see whales and weather was good but still very turbulent to watch whales with only guard rail - the yacht pictured is much more substantial and safer looking to be on for rougher seas. Was a bit dangerous to be on the bow and many passengers including ourselves got completely soaked by waves crashing. The crew provided sea sick pills which was helpful. The pictures are VERY DECEIVING. I have pix of the boat - The Harpa and it didnt compare… was old n small with only 2 tiers. Upper tier small so not everyone could go there bc it was full. Nothing offered /napkins or towels to dry off soaked passemgers for cold wet ride back.
