At Þingvellir, meaning “Assembly Plains,” the Alþing general assembly was founded around 930 and continued to meet there until 1798. Significant events in Iceland’s history have occurred at Þingvellir, making it a revered site for all Icelanders. Today, Þingvellir is a protected national treasure. As per the law enacted in 1928, the protected area will always belong to the Icelandic nation, under the guardianship of the Alþing.

• Gullfoss Waterfall - Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall) is a renowned Icelandic waterfall that offers a breathtaking view of the power and beauty of pristine nature. Located in South Iceland on the Hvítá (White) river, which is nourished by Iceland’s second-largest glacier, Langjökull, the water cascades down 32 meters in multiple stages into a rugged canyon with walls reaching up to 70 meters high. On sunny days, a shimmering rainbow can often be seen over the falls.
• Geysir - Geysir is situated in the Haukadalur valley on the slopes of Laugarfjall hill, which is also home to the Strokkur geyser, located about 50 meters (160 ft) to the south.
