The initial 150 km of the journey lead through picturesque Icelandic farmland. Beyond this, the scenery becomes even more captivating. The route traverses a desert-like volcanic landscape for over 30 km before arriving at Landmannalaugar. The area is adorned with powerful geysers and glacial streams, enhancing the unique allure of this remarkable location.

Crossing rivers and navigating coarse gravel roads along the way promises an unforgettable experience. A stop will be made at Crater Lake Ljótipollur, which was formed in 1477 and is now filled with a deep cobalt-blue lake. Another stop will be at Lake Frostastaðavatn before reaching the main destination. A 2-3 hour stop in Landmannalaugar allows for a scenic hike. After about an hour of hiking, visitors can relax in a natural pool or explore the area independently before returning. The return journey follows the Dómadalur route, which passes through lava fields and between towering mountains, with numerous rivers to ford and some magnificent waterfalls to admire.
