In a lush landscape, full of beautiful flowers, trees and aromatic herbs, the Vosakos monastery lies before our eyes, stone-built and magnificent. The one and only nun left in the monastery, will be waiting inside to welcome us with her kind smile and a delicious loukoumi treat. We can stay for some time to enjoy its traditional architecture and the calm atmosphere; in the meantime, we will learn all about its tumultuous history.

This tour offers an opportunity to delve into the authentic culture and traditions of Crete. The journey begins with a visit to a lesser-known monastery in the Mylopotapos region. After a short 10-minute drive, participants will meet Andreas, a Cretan shepherd, to discuss his daily routines and enjoy his homemade raki accompanied by some “meze.” Experience the unique process of Cretan beekeeping interactively by donning special uniforms and sampling honey directly from the honeycomb. Enjoy the warm hospitality of Mr. Andreas and his wife, Ms. Eleni, with a traditional Cretan homemade lunch at their home. On the way to Apladiana, travelers will pass through orange groves, where they can pick an orange by hand and savor its freshness.
