• Devils Tower National Monument - Situated in Wyoming, Devils Tower is a unique, stump-shaped granite formation that rises prominently above the tree-lined Belle Fourche River Valley. Originally buried beneath the earth, erosion has worn away the softer rock layers, unveiling the Tower.

The surrounding two-square-mile park was declared the nation’s first national monument by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. The park features pine forests, woodlands, and grasslands. Visitors to the park are likely to encounter deer, prairie dogs, and other wildlife. The mountain’s distinctive markings are central to Native American legend. One such legend tells of a giant bear that clawed the grooves into the mountainside while pursuing several young Indian maidens. Known to several northern plains tribes as Bears Lodge, it is a sacred site for many American Indians. Devils Tower is also famous for its appearance in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

Visitors have two hours to explore and may choose to walk the Tower Trail.

• Aladdin General Store - This is the oldest continuously operating general store in Wyoming. Located in the small town of Aladdin (population 15), the store, established in 1892, offers a wealth of history in a charming old building.
• Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway - Spearfish Canyon provides a journey through the culture, nature, and history of the Black Hills. The canyon is rich with opportunities for wildlife observation and is considered one of the best scenic byways in America.
  Older than the Grand Canyon, it features three waterfalls, 1,000-foot limestone/sandstone cliffs, four ecosystems, and a flowing mountain stream. Visitors stop at Roughlock Falls to walk the short trails and admire the cascading falls, which offer excellent photo opportunities.
• Bridal Veil Falls - With a drop of approximately 60 feet, Bridal Veil Falls is the most accessible waterfall in the canyon. The falls flow vigorously in the spring and slow significantly in late summer and fall. It is conveniently located next to a large parking lot for sightseers. An observation platform has been installed for optimal viewing and photography.
• Roughlock Falls State Nature Area - Roughlock Falls is celebrated for its stunning scenery and is a popular destination due to its easily accessible waterfall and surrounding nature area. It features paved walkways, clear water with visible trout, and unique cascading water over mossy rocks. It is regarded as the best of the Canyon’s waterfalls.

Here, visitors will enjoy a picnic (included) beside the stream and take in the natural beauty.

• Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center - Old Gold and New Physics.
  Located in the historic gold town of Lead, the Homestake Visitor Center is situated on the edge of the open pit mine that was once the largest gold mine in the world. It now serves as a museum with exhibits on the past gold rush era and the ongoing scientific research 4,200 feet below the surface. Over 40 countries are involved in exploring the universe for Dark Matter and Neutrinos. Fascinating stuff!
• Deadwood - Original Old West History . . . 1876 Gold Rush . . . and the final resting place of the infamous Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane in Mt Moriah Cemetery. (tour stop)

Today, Deadwood retains much of its 1880s charm, with cobblestone streets and brick and stone gambling casinos. Visitors will have time to explore many of the famous saloons and former ‘hospitality’ houses on Main Street.

• Deadwood Alive - If desired, visitors can watch the historically accurate reenactments of Deadwood’s unique gunfights and remarkable affrays with Deadwood Alive.

Every two hours, four gunfighters engage in shootouts and sling guns along Old Main Street. These entertaining and historical reenactments occur three times a day, six days a week.

• Sturgis - A quick tour of the renowned downtown Sturgis is available. Home to the world’s oldest and largest motorcycle rally, visitors have time for photos and a quick stop to purchase a special t-shirt or hat.
