Reykjavík - Landmannalaugar

Landmannalaugar - The adventure begins at Landmannalaugar, the starting point of the Laugavegur Trail. The journey starts with exploring the Laugahraun lava field and Vonugil canyon, where the stunning and vibrant colors of the rhyolite mountains can be admired. The famous and multicolored Mt. Brennisteinsalda will be seen before returning to the campsite. If time permits, Graenagil and Blahnukur can be explored. A delightful dinner will be shared with the group, followed by a relaxing soak in the Landmannalaugar hot springs.

Landmannalaugar - Hrafntinnusker - Alftavatn

Laugavegur - The day starts with a hearty breakfast before setting off to the next destination. The journey begins by crossing the Hrafntinnusker black obsidian desert and exploring the vibrantly colored Reykjafjöll rhyolite mountains. The peak of Jökultungur offers breathtaking views over Fjallabak and Álfavatn lake. A thrilling river crossing by foot adds to the adventure! The evening will be spent relaxing, enjoying a well-deserved dinner, and taking in the views of the Icelandic Highlands.

Alftavatn - Emstrur

Laugavegur - After a nourishing breakfast, the journey continues towards the volcanoes via Mælifellssandur. The path passes Stórasúla and Hattafell volcanoes, offering spectacular views of Mýrdalsjökull & Eyjafjallajökull. On the way to Botnar, a lush green oasis, the impressive Markarfljótsgljúfur gorge, plunging 200m below, will be seen. The day concludes with a delicious dinner, enjoying the company of new friends and the beautiful scenery.

Distance: 15km (9.5 mi), walking time: 6-7 hrs, descent: 40 m (130 ft).

Emstrur - Thórsmörk - Reykjavík

Laugavegur - After breakfast, the journey from Emstrur to Þórsmörk begins. The route passes through Almenningar gorge near Mount Einhyrningur, offering unparalleled views of the glaciers. As Þórsmörk is entered, the landscape transforms into dense birch forests and stunning mountainous scenery. The completion of the Laugavegur trail is celebrated!

Distance: 15km (9.5 mi), walking time: 6-7 hrs, descent: 300 m (985 ft).

On the return to Reykjavík, a glimpse of Seljalandsfoss will be caught. Arrival back in Reykjavík is around 21:30, with drop-off at the BSI bus stop in Reykjavík.
