Firstly, the concept of “Homestyle” is integrated into this cooking class with the aim of providing guests with the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of a Vietnamese local friend’s home, where they can learn, experience, and savor typical Vietnamese dishes.
Secondly, the “homestyle cooking class” is designed to resemble a family kitchen filled with care and love, so:
- We choose typical Vietnamese dishes that are authentic and healthy, using no MSG and fresh ingredients daily.
- The dishes selected for the menu are easy to make at home, ensuring you can recreate them after learning in Hoa’s Kitchen.
- During the cooking lesson, participants will prepare 3 traditional Vietnamese dishes from scratch. Initially, guidance will be provided on the best preparation methods, followed by a step-by-step walkthrough of the entire cooking process, sharing secret tips for the best results. After cooking, everyone will sit down together to enjoy the home-cooked Vietnamese meal.

Like a Viet aunt teaching all her hacks and refined recipes! - I visited Vietnam to try the food I've seen on so many foodie shows and to get a better feel for Vietnamese cooking. I've been following online recipes for a while but I wasn't grasping the spirit behind it.
That changed after taking Hoa's class; she began by explaining key ingredients and spices frequently used in pho and other dishes, and then we would get hands-on. I remember better by doing, and Hoa would ask us to "crack the cardamom shell and then put it all in the broth like this". I didn't even know cardamom came in a shell.
My goal was to learn how to make an easy but delicious pho so that I can cook it on any weeknight quickly. I learned that, along with a green papaya salad (super easy), and ban xeo (Vietnamese pancake) two ways.
Hoa is a great teacher who has refined home recipes to their best essence; I wondered aloud if we should put the many spices for the pho broth into a spice bag. She replied, "I wondered the same thing so I cooked two side-by-side and there is definitely less flavor when I used the spice bag."
Hoa is like the Vietnamese aunt I never had, sharing her kitchen hacks and treasured homestyle recipes. Definitely book with Hoa the next time you're in Ho Chi Minh City!

The best starter Homecooking Class in vietnam - She gave us a warm welcome with Icecold homemade Lemongrass tea
Her cooking class was very interesting & easy to learn, and we had a nice chat while preparing all the dishes😊
This is a great start to learning about Vietnamese cuisine.😋
I hope to return to Vietnam someday so I can learn to prepare more dishes with Miss Hoa.
We finished the class with a delicious homemade lunch consisting of:
Vietnamese spring rolls,
Chicken Pho soup,
& lemongrass chicken.

Best cooking class in Sai Gon - Hoa was fantastic, I booked a private class and did 5 dishes instead of the usual 3 (paid extra for these of course), and she managed to get everything finished in 3.5hrs before I had to rush for my flight. So glad I booked with her, definitely recommend!
The dishes we made were specifically Southern Vietnamese, and they were all so good!! They were hu tieu, com tam, bun thit nuong, thit kho trung, and che thai sau rieng

Fantastic experience and a must do - This is a must-do when visiting Ho Chi Minh! We are a multi-generational family currently living in HCMC and I wanted something fun and educational to do with my grandchildren aged 9 & 11. We really enjoy Vietnamese food and love to cook. Hoa, the host and Nhu, assistant both speak English very well and are a wealth of knowledge. They really do teach you homestyle Vietnamese cooking. We made sizzling pancakes from scratch including a lesson on how to make coconut milk from shredded coconut. No canned for Hoa! We made Pho Ga starting with sautéing the aromatics and boiling chicken. And we made a grilled pork dish with noodles. My grandson loved pounding the pork to tenderize it. This is a kid friendly place and she as well offers classes making beautiful traditional Vietnamese crafts. When we finished cooking we all sat together to converse and enjoy our dishes. This is a must do, again, I say this because it is true!

Highlight of My Trip - I had the most lovely time with Hoa at her house! She was beyond kind and patient with me and explained every step in detail. I enjoyed this experience so much - she went above and beyond by giving me a gift, taking videos/photos, and emailing me all the recipes. I would highly recommend to groups or solo travellers who are looking for a fun experience to learn North and South cooking styles!

10/10! - Absolutely amazing, Hoá is legendary and so sweet. The food was utterly amazing though - she tells you the backstory of the cuisine and how to eat it, how it's served, and the way the locals like to eat it.
