- Hao Sy Phuong - Nestled in the heart of Saigon’s Chinatown, Hao Si Phuong Alley is a hidden treasure that offers an intriguing insight into the local lifestyle. With a history exceeding 100 years, this narrow alleyway is rich in the traditions and cultural heritage of its inhabitants. It was originally established by the Chinese community with assistance from the French government.
- Miếu Ông - Hội Quán Nghĩa An - Nghia An Hoi Quan, constructed before the 19th century, has undergone several reconstructions and now boasts a distinctive archaic appearance amidst the modern buildings of Ho Chi Minh. Thousands visit this site to seek good fortune during significant Vietnamese festivals, while international visitors come to admire the ancient Chinese architecture in the bustling city.
- Ba Thien Hau Temple - This temple is a remarkable example of Chinese-style architecture, built in the late 19th century by the Cantonese community in Saigon. The pagoda is notable in the city center for its ancient charm, yin-yang tiled roof, and vividly colored ceramic statues. Upon entering, the space is filled with the fragrance of flowers and the bright light from rows of lanterns, transporting visitors to a bygone era.
- Chợ Lớn - Now a major commercial hub for the Chinese in Ho Chi Minh City, this area still retains the invaluable cultural, religious, and architectural values that date back thousands of years. The pipe-shaped tiled roofs in Chinatown streets, combined with typical Chinese architecture, create a unique classic beauty.
In addition to exploring the streets of Chinatown, indulge in local flavors with a mini food tour! Savor the famous Vietnamese coffee, enjoy a plate of Chinese duck soup noodles, and relish a hearty meal of dumplings and sweet soup.

Saigon free walking tour with Thang from Detoured Asia - Brilliant walking tour!! We went to several places and essentially covered the entire district 1 area. Thang is the perfect guide, he is very knowledgeable and told us everything about Vietnamese history and politics from the early Chinese era until today. We learned a lot! I would highly recommend this tour to everybody who wants to see the main sights (and more) in Saigon and to deeply dive into the country’s past.

Informative Walking Tour of HCMC - This tour covers majority of the main sites in the city, with detailed information provided not only on the broader history of Vietnam but also the history of the city itself. Thang is an excellent guide with great knowledge and was able to answer all questions with detail. I learnt a lot on this tour and would highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn more about the country and city, as well as get the lay of the land as you walk a big portion of district 1 and 3 in the 2.5 hour tour.
