- Basilica del Voto Nacional - The Quito city tour offers a wonderful opportunity to explore captivating panoramas, churches, domes, and roofs with significant historical importance. Participants will appreciate and learn about colonial art, architecture, culture, legends, and traditions. Quito, Ecuador’s capital, was established in the 16th century on the remnants of an Inca city and is situated at an elevation of 9,350 feet. Despite the 1917 earthquake, the city boasts the best-preserved and least altered historic center in Latin America. The architecture and opulent interiors are exemplary of the Quito School of sculpture, which blends Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish, and indigenous art. After an amazing four-hour exploration of the Old Town, it becomes clear why Quito was the first city to be designated as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site.
The tour begins at the Basilica church, showcasing a true example of neo-Gothic architectural style.
- Plaza de la Independencia (Plaza Grande) - The city’s main square, Plaza Grande, is encircled by the country’s key buildings: the Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, and City Hall.
- Palacio Arzobispal - The Archbishop’s Palace is a grand building located in the Historic Center of Quito DM.
- Fundacion Iglesia de la Compania - The tour includes a visit to the finest example of colonial art in the city: a Jesuit temple with a facade adorned with intricate carvings.
- Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco - The Franciscan Order was the first to be established in Quito. The Franciscans promptly began constructing a monastery, which became a hub for education and the arts, featuring its own painting and sculpture schools (the Church of San Francisco is included in the tour).
- El Panecillo - From the observation deck of Panecillo, participants will enjoy a stunning view of the entire city, along with the statue of the Winged Virgin Mary, the city’s patroness.

I was lucky to have... - I was lucky to have Alfredo (Freddie) as my private tour guide. He was an expert and professional tour guide who regularly works for several highly regarded US and British group tour companies. Because it was a Sunday we couldn’t spend as much time as the itinerary allotted to the 3 churches that we visited because Mass was going on. However, to compensate Alfredo added 3 additional churches at my request (one of which he had never been inside before and another that my hotel recommended that I not visit by myself because it was not considered in a safe area). He also recommended a particular restaurant overlooking Quito’s Independence Square that I liked so much that I went to dinner there for 3 consecutive nights. This tour worked particularly well for me because I was traveling in Quito on my own and it gave me a good overview of the historic center that I was able to see in more detail in subsequent days.

Quito - Quito is an amazing culturally rich city, definitely recommend a guide to explore the history of this ancient civilization. Our guide Fabian was amazing! He told us of some amazing Quito facts!

3 Hour Quito tour - Juanito was outstanding. He spoke very good English and called to alert us that he would be 10 minutes later due to traffic. Very knowledgeable about all aspects of Quito. We did the 3 hour tour of the old city and several churches. The churches were amazing and we were told that local artists were trained to do all the amazing sculptures inside and out.

Our host was a lovely woman and took us to all the important places. It was enjoyable to talk with her & learn more. - Great tour with our very nice host who gave us insight into Quito and history and culture. We enjoyed it very much……………..

A wonderful tour of Quito with Ivan - My family took this city tour with Ivan as our guide. Ivan was right on time to pick us up from our hotel and started the tour with the The Virgin of the Panecillo lookout. He told us lots of interesting stories about the statue and the city while walking from one viewpoint to another. We then proceeded to explore the historic center with all its beautiful churches and governmental buildings. Ivan was very adaptive to our requests and shaped the tour to our interests. At the end of the tour he suggested an absolute gem of a lunch place. That meal was our best in Quito! Thank you, Ivan, for the great tour of Quito!

This tour turned out to... - This tour turned out to be a quick stop in Quito because I was going to Las Lajas Sanctuary in Colombia. To say the least Ecuador really amazed me! I wish I would have had more time to stay. I was fortunate enough to be able to go to two main sites Middle of the World (had some delicious Fritada in the square) and Basilica of the Vow. I was told the tour only includes the historical center, since I wanted to tour Middle of the World then we would only make a quick stop in the center's basilica and skip the rest of stops from the original itinerary. I had to pay additional for the change in itinerary and for my pickup outside of the city center- near the airport (in cash). I truly enjoyed it but it was definitely pricier than I anticipated (in comparison to another tour I had the following day- full day). My tour guide was Fabian a quiet Quito native.
