- San Antonio de Pichincha - Upon reaching the parish town of San Antonio de Pichincha, visitors can witness the vibrant life of this small town situated on the Equatorial Line. Notable structures include the Former Unasur building, once the headquarters of the South American Nations, and a large obelisk in the Middle of the World City. In the distance, a round elevation, considered sacred by Quito’s early inhabitants, is visible. It is believed that the first pre-Inca astrological observatory was constructed on this mountain. Other attractions in San Antonio include the mountains known as “La Marca,” with the Pululahua crater located behind them. San Antonio de Pichincha experiences a dry climate, with temperatures reaching up to 75°F during the day and 54°F at night in the summer. In winter, the temperature does not drop significantly.
- Pululahua Volcano & Geobotanical Reserve - Contrary to popular belief, the Pululahua is an active volcano, though currently dormant. Located in the northern hemisphere near the equatorial line, it is part of the Geobotanical Reserve, which spans 13,000 hectares. Interestingly, people reside within the crater, making it one of the few inhabited volcanoes worldwide. From the viewpoint, visitors can see volcanic domes, houses, and tourist ventures that enliven the area.
- Intinan Museum - Discover the Intiñan Museum, representing the Equator Line and situated 100 meters north of the giant obelisk. The name Intiñan derives from the Kichwa word meaning sun trail. A local museum interpreter will guide visitors through various scenes depicting indigenous villages and centuries-old houses, among other attractions. Experiments demonstrating the location at the middle of the world are conducted, including balancing a raw egg on a nail. Successful participants receive a diploma as a master of the egg.
- Mitad Del Mundo - A renowned tourist spot in Quito, declared a Cultural Heritage of Ecuador. In 1936, an Ecuadorian geographer proposed constructing a monument on the Equator Line to honor the first arrival of the French Geodesic Mission in 1736. The idea was realized in 1976 with the construction of a 31-meter-high obelisk. This monument provides an excellent backdrop for memorable photos when visiting the middle of the world, considered the historical Middle Of The World or The Equator Line.
