- Quito Old Town - DAY 1 QUITO ORIENTATION MEETING & BRIEFING
This is the arrival day for all tour participants. Depending on your flight arrival time, you can either explore Quito’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or relax at the hotel. Our tour guide will meet you in the lobby at 6:30 pm for an orientation meeting and briefing before the tour begins. During this meeting, you can address any questions or curiosities about the tour.
We can also assist in arranging a full day in Quito or its surroundings if informed in advance.
- Cotopaxi National Park - DAY 2 COTOPAXI BIKE TOUR
Early in the morning, we will drive for 1.5 hours to the entrance of Cotopaxi National Park. Along the way, enjoy the views of the famous Avenue of the Volcanoes. This will be your first encounter with nature and altitude.
We will then proceed to Limpiopungo Lake at over 12,800 ft., a magical spot between Cotopaxi and Ruminahui volcanoes. We will drive up to 15,000 ft., and if you are comfortable with the altitude, we can plan a hike to the basecamp at 16,000 ft. Alternatively, you can admire the majestic Cotopaxi.
Afterward, prepare for the MTB tour down to Limpiopungo Lake. At the end, enjoy a delicious lunch with a marvelous view of the Andes.
Finally, we will drive to our lodging, a fantastic place to capture the sunset with a cup of hot coffee or tea provided by the hostel, followed by dinner.
- iTur GAD Chugchilán - DAY 3 TREKKING TO CHUGCHILAN
Today, check out after breakfast and prepare for the hike from Insilivi to Chugchilan village. The hike will take 4 to 6 hours, covering 12 miles. Due to the high elevation, ranging from 10,000 to 12,000 ft., you may experience moderate fatigue, but it is manageable.
During the hike, observe local communities and farming as the path goes through villages and crops.
Enjoy a delicious lunch in a village, and finally, arrive at Mama Hilda Hostel in Chugchilan town for an overnight stay.
Typically, the day ends by 3 pm, allowing time to explore the town independently.
Dinner is served at 7:00 pm, followed by a briefing for the next day.
- Laguna Quilotoa - DAY 4 QUILOTOA LAKE VISIT - BANOS
After breakfast, we will drive for 30 minutes to Quilotoa Lake, located at 12,000 ft. above sea level. Prepare for a 25-minute hike down to the crater.
At the lake, you can rent kayaks for 30 minutes or 1 hour at an additional cost, depending on your experience level. Kayaking here is relatively easy.
Decide whether to hike back up or rent a mule. Hiking takes at least 1.5 hours on a steep slope, while a mule ride is smoother and takes only 30 minutes.
After this adventure, we will continue to Baños City, 3 hours from Quilotoa. Along the way, enjoy stops for ice sorbet tasting, viewpoints, and more.
Finally, arrive in Baños city for an overnight stay in a wonderful hostel and enjoy some of the Baños nightlife.
- Banos - DAY 5 RAFTING TOUR - TRANSPORT TO THE JUNGLE LODGE
Early in the morning, we will visit some Baños City sights, including the local market, the main church, and Melcochas tasting. Then, we will head towards the Famous Waterfalls Avenue, the route to the Jungle with over 30 waterfalls. We will visit the most beautiful ones: Agoyan (where you can zipline at an extra cost), Manto de la Novia (where you can cross Pastaza Canyon by cable car, known as Tarabita), and Pailon del Diablo (where we will walk down to see the largest waterfall and discover its six balconies a few feet from the water).
We will then drive to Cumanda village, the starting point of the rafting tour down the Pastaza River, covering 14 miles in about 2 hours.
Finally, drive 2 more hours to an impressive jungle lodge near Tena City, in front of the Napo River.
- Tena - DAY 6 JUNGLE EXPLORATIONS - FULL ADVENTURE
Waking up to the sounds of jungle wildlife is a warm welcome to the world’s most diverse forest. After breakfast, take a motor canoe ride on the Napo River, visiting villages like Misahualli, known as The Monkeys Town (with Capuchin Monkeys everywhere). Continue the canoe ride to Arajuno River, where you will visit the AMAZOONICO Rescue Center to see jungle animals such as parrots, parakeets, macaws, ocelots, snakes, caimans, and various monkeys.
Enjoy a picnic lunch near the Arajuno River shore.
After lunch, take a motor canoe ride to enjoy the landscapes and nature, stopping at Tiyu Yaku Kichwa Community to learn about their lifestyle, ceramics, and local cuisine.
Finally, return to the hotel.
- Cavernas Jumandy - DAY 7 JUMANDY CAVERNS TOUR - TRANSPORTATION TO PAPALLACTA
On this day, depart early for Archidona Town, where you can try the famous ChontaCuro or Jungle Prawns at the food market to energize for the Jungle Caverns visit.
The caverns, naturally formed over millions of years by water filtering from the surface, are located near this town. The tour through the caves takes approximately 1 hour, and you should be prepared to get wet and admire the impressive stalactites.
Enjoy a typical lunch nearby, then drive to Papallacta village to relax and enjoy the afternoon admiring the landscapes or having a massage at the Resort SPA.
Briefing and overnight stay.
