Labor Day in Cotopaxi National Park - Excellent time. Did a trek to the Cotopaxi base camp, went to the lagoon, ate at a yummy restaurant, and had several surprises along the way. Would definitely recommend!

Best Volcano Tour with Rodney! - I had the best experience on the Cotopaxi volcano tour with our guide Rodney. From the very beginning he gave us such a warm welcome and made everyone feel comfortable and also safe…. He knew so much about the area and history and even shared so many details that made the experience even better. Personally I struggled a bit with the hike, but Rodney was so kind and very patient, he encouraged everyone alone the whole way and never made us feel rushed. He went above and beyond to help with everything from giving us tips to taking pictures for us, and he always had a positive, bubbly energy that kept the whole group uplifted!! I also really appreciated that he gave us plenty of time to look around and enjoy the scenery. All in all, Rodney was an amazing guide who truly cares about the people he’s leading.. and for that he should be commended for the great work he’s doing. I’d highly recommend this tour, and if you get Rodney as your guide you’ll be in great hands!

Hiking up to 5.000m! - We booked a private tour for two people. Pick-up was at our hotel at 7:30 in the morning, and it took about 1.5 hours to reach the entrance of the Cotopaxi National Park. During the drive, our experienced guide and driver, Alejandro, told us many interesting facts about the region, the volcanoes, and what to expect in terms of conditions and issues related to the altitude. We also made a stop at a small café and grocery store along the way. We entered Cotopaxi National Park and reached the parking lot at 4,600 meters. On the way up, Alejandro explained the local vegetation and wildlife, which includes deer, wild horses, llamas, foxes, hawks, condors, and many other birds. There are two ways to ascend to the José Rivas refuge, which sits at 4,864 meters: one is more direct, and the other follows a zigzag path. Our guide chose the second one based on the weather conditions. The hike itself is not particularly difficult, but the altitude makes it challenging. Alejandro was really caring and kept checking in on us throughout the hike to see how we were doing. We arrived at the refuge, where we rested for a bit and had some hot chocolate. Then we hiked a little further, reaching 5,000 meters. Unfortunately, it was a very cloudy day, with wind and even some snow. We don’t have good photos, but the experience was great! On the way back, we took the direct trail to the car. We visited a small museum inside the park and walked around a beautiful lagoon with views of Cotopaxi. Just outside the park, we stopped for lunch at a cozy place (included in the tour rate), and then headed back to our hotel in Quito.

Great day in Cotopaxi! - Outstanding trip. Well organised. Great level of info. And the actual trip to Cotopaxi was very special. It also all felt very safe with, for example, good info on altitude sickness (which was not a problem).

1 day tour Cotopaxi - We joined a one-day tour to Cotopaxi and it was worth it. The scenery was breathtaking from the very start, with sweeping views of the snow-capped volcano and the surrounding páramo landscape. We hiked up into thinner air to truly take in the beauty of the mountain, then switched to bikes for an downhill ride. Our guide, Felipe, gave excellent explanations throughout the day, making the experience very informative and enjoyable. Thank you for such a memorable adventure — I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Ecuador!

Private tour with Alejandro is the way to go! - We did a private tour to Cotopaxi as the driver was able to pick us up from our hotel and drop us off at the airport after. Alejandro was our guide, and we could not have asked for anyone better. He was very sociable with excellent English, very knowledgable, and also a good driver. The weather is extremely variable, layers are crucial. The hike and the lunch on the way back were our favorite parts. It was the perfect day trip from Quito before our late flight back that evening.
