- Quitandinha Palace Congress and Convention Center - The Quitandinha Palace is a stunning and grand landmark in Petrópolis. Construction began in 1941 and concluded in 1944, making it one of the largest hotel casinos in South America. The palace boasts 440 apartments, 13 lounges with ceilings up to 10 meters high, and a dome in Salão Mauá that is 30 meters tall and 50 meters in diameter. In front of its façade lies a large lake shaped like the map of Brazil, with sand sourced from Copacabana beach. During its operation, the hotel hosted many notable figures such as Henry Fonda, Carmen Miranda, Walt Disney, and politicians like Getúlio Vargas and Evita Perón. Enjoy its Hollywood-style Rococo architecture and exquisite interior decor. Closed on Mondays.
- Imperial Museum - Known as the Imperial Palace, this historical museum served as the summer retreat for the imperial family. Walking through its halls feels like stepping into a history book, with everything preserved as if Dom Pedro II and his family still visited. The State Room houses one of Dom Pedro II’s thrones, evoking the presence of the emperor. The adjacent hall features carriages and the locomotive that traveled the Rio de Janeiro-Juiz de Fora route via Estrada de Ferro Mauá. The garden enhances the building’s grandeur. In the jewelry room, marvel at the scepter made for D. Pedro I’s consecration, D. Pedro II’s diamond and pearl crown, and the gold and ruby pen used by Princess Izabel to sign the abolition of slavery. Closed on Mondays.

Catedral de Sao Pedro de Alcantara - Dedicated to Brazil’s patron saint, this cathedral in Petrópolis is a significant neo-Gothic structure. Inside, the Mausoleum holds the remains of the Imperial Family (Dom Pedro II, Dona Teresa Cristina, Princess Isabel, and Conde D`Eu, along with their firstborn D. Pedro de Alcântara and his wife D. Elisabeth). The Gothic altar contains relics of Saint Magno, Santa Aurélia, and Santa Tecla, brought from Rome by Cardinal D. Sebastião Leme. The cathedral features Carrara marble carvings, with the Imperial Chapel located to the right of the main entrance.
- Museu Casa de Santos Dumont - This was the summer home of Alberto Santos Dumont, the Father of Aviation, known as “A Encantada” - The Enchanted. The museum showcases a collection of objects, books, letters, and furniture, including the shower and entrance staircase with racket-shaped steps, accessible only by starting on the right foot. At the 14 bis Cultural Center, adjacent to the Casa, visitors can watch a short film about Santos Dumont. The space is accessible and includes tactile models for visitors with special needs. Alberto Santos Dumont, a brilliant Brazilian inventor, was born in Minas Gerais in 1873 and passed away in 1932 after witnessing São Paulo being bombed by airplanes during the 1932 revolution. Built in 1918, the house was designed by Santos Dumont with an engineer’s assistance. Encantada reflects much of his personality, with a large room serving as both a library and office, a workshop and laboratory on the lower floor, and a bathroom and bedroom on the top floor. Closed on Mondays.
- Cervejaria Bohemia - Located in the historic Cervejaria Bohemia brewery, established in 1853 as Brazil’s first of its kind. The tour offers an interactive journey through the history, art, and science of brewing. Learn about beer from ancient times to today, taste Bohemia straight from the source, and enjoy the experience in a modern, interactive setting. The Brewery Bohemia also features an emporium, bar, and restaurant where you can savor their special beers alongside delicious dishes and snacks. Closed on Mondays.
