CUSCO - CUSIPATA - RED VALLEY - RAINBOW MOUNTAIN - ANAMPATA CAMP
Nevado Ausangate - “The adventure kicks off at 4:30 AM with a pick-up in Cusco by the tour guide in a private van. The journey takes you on a 2-hour drive to Cusipata for a delightful breakfast. Following this, the drive continues for another hour to the trailhead at 4,400m/14,435 ft. The hike begins with an exploration of the breathtaking Red Valley, a peaceful and visually captivating area. From there, the ascent takes approximately 2 hours to reach the summit of Rainbow Mountain at 5,036m/16,522 ft, where the mineral stripes and the Ausangate glacier can be admired. After taking in the views, the descent to Kayrawiri includes a hot lunch prepared by the chef. The final leg involves 3 hours of tranquil trekking through a high Andean valley, arriving at the Anantapata campsite (4,750 m/15,580 ft), where dinner and a starry sky await.

The main challenge is the ascent to Pucacocha Pass (or Anantapata Pass), reaching 4,900 m / 16,076 ft. From the summit, enjoy stunning 360-degree panoramic views of Ausangate and endless mountain ranges. Afterward, a gentle descent through a valley with unique rock formations and turquoise lagoons begins. Around midday, a hot lunch is served next to one of the lagoons. After 8 to 9 hours of trekking in total, the journey concludes at Ausangatecocha Camp (4,400 m / 14,435 ft), located next to the namesake lake, offering a restorative dinner under the Andean sky.”
