The day began with the sun barely peeking over the horizon, casting a golden glow on the Caribbean waters. I was picked up at 7:00 am sharp by Angel, our driver, and greeted by Roald, our guide, whose knowledge of the Yucatán was as vast as the ocean itself. After a quick stop for coffee and cakes at a quaint hotel, we were ready to embark on our adventure.

Our captain, Gabriel, navigated us from Chiquilá to Isla de la Pasión. The boat ride was a gentle reminder of why I fell in love with the sea. I couldn’t resist trying the famous black coconut-vanilla-honey ice cream. Its unique color, thanks to activated charcoal, was as delightful to the taste buds as it was to the eyes.

Golf Cart Adventures and Ocean Bliss

After a buffet-style lunch at a local hotel, complete with soft drinks and coffee, we had some free time. While some chose to relax by the pool, I was drawn back to the turquoise ocean for another swim. The water was inviting, and the waves seemed to call my name.

The final leg of our journey was a ride through Holbox’s sandy streets in quirky golf carts. The “roads” were more like adventurous dirt tracks, adding a touch of thrill to the ride. It was a fitting end to a day filled with exploration and relaxation.
