Enjoyable and educational - Had a great time and learned about the Mayan culture and food with our guide Maggie. Got rained on at the Bacalar lagoon, but it didn’t dampen our experience. Recommended!

Magnificent excursions - The cozumel atv ride. I thought it would be warm but I am glad that i brought a jacket. The water in the ceynote was very warm. I am 71 years old the tour guide called me super grandma. He was very sweat so if you go there I jumped off the rocks and drove the atv it was all very exciting. Costa Maya the Mayan cooking experience and seven colors lagoon. We enjoyed making the food and the lunch was very good. The canoes in the lagoon was fun. They afforded us 2 drinks a piece.

A great day learning about Mayan culture and food with time to swim and kayak as well! - Amazing experience for the whole family. My husband and I did this excursion with our 7 and 11 year olds. Our tour guide Romeo was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and fun. We loved meeting the Mayan ladies and had so much fun helping prepare authentic Mayan food and really enjoyed the meal prepared by them. The Bacalar Lagoon was nice but it was cloudy so the colors weren’t great. We still enjoyed our time swimming, kayaking and enjoying a few cocktails. We’d highly recommend this tour!!

Best of Both Worlds - My husband and I booked this tour the night before and we are so happy that we did! Edgar did a great job driving us and Maggie was a wonderful tour guide and very knowledgeable. Our group was small (4 people total) and it felt very personalized because of this which we loved! The tour lasted 5.5 hours and was the right amount of time. Two of those hours were spent driving. We learned all about the Mayan people and culture on the drive and were taught how to say a few phrases to the ladies that prepared our lunch. We learned how to make tortillas and prepare a common snack and tamales. They served us a delicious lunch and then we headed to the Lagoon. We only spent about 1.5 hours at the Lagoon but it was beautiful and relaxing. I would recommend this tour for anyone looking for a cultural experience and a bit of beach relaxing in the same day!

Delicious Educational Day in Mahahual - My husband and I were on a Royal Caribbean cruise last week and we were So Glad we found this tour from the Costa Maya port! We spent a really Terrific, Informative, Fun, well organized, full day with Magali from The Native Choice. We booked the Mayan Family and Seven Color Lagoon tour directly from the company. (The company sends clear meeting directions, but it is important to note that once past the very long pier at this port, and the whole “village” of shops, restaurants, bars, and “beach” to be walked through and exited, there is still another 10-20 minute walk to get to the company kiosk; about a 25-40 minute walk in total). Once we found our way, we were taken in a small group (9 people) to a comfortable, air-conditioned mini-bus driven expertly by Edgar, for our ride to the Mayan family home. Magali (“Maggie”) was a Wonderful guide; so knowledgeable and entertaining, and she taught us so much about the area and the Mayan customs and culture along the way. Once at the family home, she toured us around the grounds and the home and introduced us to the family. It was so much fun to learn how to make empanadas and tortillas before tucking into a Delicious, traditional, farm to table buffet lunch. Completely full and happy, our next stop was at the Seven Color Lagoon where we were free to lounge and swim in the beautiful, clear water and enjoy two drinks of our choosing (don’t miss the sangria!). We loved every second but were only able to be at the lagoon for an hour in order to get back to the port for our cruise ship’s very early departure time. Edgar dropped us at the entrance to the port “village” so the walk back was shorter and we were on the ship long before all aboard time. This is the Perfect tour to pick at the Costa Maya port!

Awesome - All I can say is that this was a very memorable day. Elliot was our guide and I'm not sure anyone could be better. He knew/shared so much about the Mayan community he grew up in. When we arrived, we were welcomed by prince the dog. We were shown/taught so much about the family and how they live. We were taught some cooking secrets and enjoyed a fantastic meal. I would recommend this to anyone interested in the Mayan culture.

Wonderful time! Do this if you want a highly educational, fun experience! - If you do one excursion, this is the one to do. It was a wonderful blend of education and fun. Eliot was hands-down, the most informative tour guide of any I have experienced in my 20 years of cruising. My husband, teenage boys and myself really enjoyed the entire day. The food was amazing and the lagoon was relaxing. Overall experience was excellent. Highly recommend.
