Amazing Tour - Alexis and Randall took us to the Mulguri Waterfalls. Alexis explained everything in great detail and repeated the information many times so it can stick. Randall drove very safely and showed us a beautiful iguana on the road. We swam and Alexis took amazing pictures of us. We also enjoyed lunch with a local family. The experience was amazing and very educational. Alexis answered all my questions about plants/animals when we were on the tour and we learned also a lot about the history of the country. Excellent is an understatement🥰

Mulguri Waterfall trip was amazing!! - Wow! We had an amazing experience!! We booked last minute and Alexis and Randall did not disappoint! We were picked up in a 4x4 vehicle and started our trek into some of the craziest terrain we have ever driven! Randall was absolutely amazing behind the wheel, not only keeping us safe but also spotting animals and nature along the way. We ended up stopping twice to learn about the palm oil seeds and to see a group of TiTi monkeys. We then made it to the gate where we were able to change into our suits and use the bathroom, we hiked to 4 different waterfalls and across a hanging bridge connecting them! We were completely out in nature at our very own waterfalls where we spent time swimming, jumping and hanging out. We finished off the trip going to a local home where they fed us a real Costa Rican lunch! It was all so wonderful! We highly recommend this trip for anyone that loves to be out in nature looking for an adventure!

BEST COSTA RICA WATERFALL TOUR ALERT!!! - *NOT sponsored*
The Mulguri Waterfalls tour was absolutely incredible— a hidden gem in Costa Rica! Our guide, Stephanie, was so kind and made the experience even more meaningful by providing education and details about Costa Rica. I felt enriched to know more about the country from a local and made me feel more connected!
Never felt pressure to rush. No massive crowds. Excellent value for what was provided, worth every cent and then some!
We had plenty of time to take everything in and enjoy the beauty around us. The hour journey through the rainforest was breathtaking, in an air-conditioned van. They offered us towels and water bottles. During the trip, we saw toucans, butterflies, lizards, and more!
One of the best parts was the homemade lunch with a local family—it was hands down the most authentic cultural experience we had in Costa Rica. The food was amazing, and the hospitality made it unforgettable.
Pro tip: Bring water shoes or sandals, as there are rocks under the waterfall, and it makes it easier to get in the water to swim!
I would recommend this tour for anyone who values diving into culture and the natural beauty of the rainforest. ¡Pura Vida!

Super very good tour. 1+++ - Our last hotel was on the other side of the city of Quepos, just outside the entrance to the national park. When checking in, a young man alerted us to a guided tour of Mulguri Falls – including lunch at a local family’s place. We agreed immediately. The next morning, punctually at 8:00 a.m., we were greeted by our guide Stephanie – a warm-hearted woman with an alert look. Together with our driver Randel and an American couple from Wisconsin, we set off for the mountains. And I was honestly very happy that we didn't have to drive ourselves. The streets... well... they were more reminiscent of the fact that they had once been streets. Arriving in the middle of the jungle, I already felt this special mood in the car while driving: lively conversations, laughter, stories from different worlds. Stephanie explained plants and animals in between – with an enthusiasm that was immediately infectious. Then we started: Swimsuit on and off to the waterfall. However, the path led over a suspension bridge. For my husband – with his fear of heights – a real test of courage. And that bridge moved! Especially if a “weighty person” like me preceded... I’m sure she shook! But he walked behind me step by step, not looking down – and finally, sweat-soaked but proud, arrived on the other side. For the first time in his life, he had crossed a suspension bridge.
We visited two waterfalls and were able to bathe in clear water both times. This power of water – this energy – is hard to describe. Of course I also wanted to know what it looks like behind the waterfall. In my imagination, I was immediately in the middle of an Indiana Jones adventure. But apart from slippery stones, to which one could hardly hold on, there was nothing else there. Nevertheless: unforgettable. In between Stephanie explained nature to us again and again. You could feel how much she loved her profession. And how much she knows, we should experience it even more intensely the next day.
This tour also included lunch – with a farming family. The grandfather, the grandmother who cooked for us, her daughter and the little granddaughter Elena. She immediately reminded me of our Matteo. A little shy, she shook hands with me. Maybe she was a year or two older. Later, she sat in the kitchen on a rocking chair and sang quietly to herself. That touched me so much that we sang a song to her goodbye: “Like a laugh, like a bird flight.” David and I made the moves – and Elena looked at us as if we were two colorful, strange birds from another world. Before that, the grandfather had shown me his country. We were allowed to smell, taste, discover. Suddenly I heard a grunt – two little pigs next to the chicken coop. Immediately I had to think about my father. My father, who loved pigs above all else, and even completed his practice at my godfather's great slaughter party to be there and join in. Lunch was wonderful: Beans, rice, chicken, a green vegetable like coarse spinach (whose name we unfortunately forgot), tomatoes, coleslaw. And star fruit juice – fresh from the tree. I could have finished the whole bucket, it was so delicious. When I told the old man: “You live in paradise,” he smiled, answering: “Yeah, that’s right.” And I thought, How nice it is that such encounters are possible. For a brief moment, community emerges – beyond all language boundaries. Actually, I wanted to give Elena another little pendant with our Christ figure – but the stones for it were in the other backpack in the hotel. The next day Stephanie took the gift and handed it over to her. And who knows – maybe one day this little girl will come as a young woman to Europe, to Germany, to Frankfurt... and look for the Christ figure that an old fat man once gave her. For the next day we arranged again with Stefanie.

An excellent way to spend a day in Costa Rica! - While the drive to the location is a bit rough, our driver and guide Diego kept us feeling secure, calm and happy throughout! Some steep trails lead to some pretty breathtaking waterfalls and a wonderful hanging bridge, followed by a delicious meal in a small family home which is absolutely unforgettable.

Hiking with new best friends - A small group of 6 people from all around the world & our guide, Diego, went out today. We had an adventure that required some vigorous up and down hikes but the reward was swimming in pools below the waterfalls.
Lunch with the Don and Dona, and conversation was being awesome. Simpatico

Don't Miss This One! - This is a must-do adventure while in Manuel Antonio. We hiked to several waterfalls, and swam in refreshing water. We made our way over suspended bridges and heard about the local wildlife. We then went to a family home for lunch and was served a meal made completely from their farm. We have enjoyed all of our adventures in Costa Rica, but this one has been the favorite. We were in an area unencumbered by multiple tours going on at once and the meal was a wonderful intimate experience. Our group bonded in a way that is more difficult in a larger group. Definately take the time to schedule this tour while in the area.

Not for anyone with a walking disability! - Our hotel sold us on a a trip to Mulguri falls, and assured me over and over that it was an easy, gentle walk which would be fine for someone with a disability. Thank goodness I did not go, as my husband did and said I would most definitely not have been able to traverse the steep, uneven, loooong hike. For someone in decent shape it is apparently challenging but worth it as the site is beautiful. Don't believe anyone who tells you it's a gentle stroll through the jungle, though!
