A Royal Adventure at Queluz Palace

The kids were thrilled to discover a local gelato shop, where they indulged in delicious flavors by the seaside. The scenic bay area, with its fresh Atlantic breeze and gently bobbing boats, was a perfect spot for a family picnic.

A Day of Discovery and Delight

Our day concluded with visits to several other iconic sites, each offering its own unique charm. The Sintra National Palace, with its twin conical chimneys and intricate tilework, transported us to the days of Portuguese royalty. Although we only viewed it from the outside, the kids were fascinated by its distinctive architecture.

The Park and National Palace of Pena, perched atop a hill in the Sintra Mountains, was like stepping into a fairy tale. Its vivid colors and eclectic design make it one of the most photographed sites in Portugal. The surrounding Pena Park, with its exotic trees and hidden pathways, was a delight to explore.

We also visited Boca do Inferno, where powerful waves crash into dramatic cliffs, creating a spectacle that lives up to its name, “Mouth of Hell.” The kids were in awe of the natural phenomenon, and it was a thrilling experience for the whole family.

Standing at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe, was a moment of reflection and wonder. The Atlantic winds in our hair and the endless ocean before us made us feel like we were at the edge of the world.
