Continuing along the lake, stop at Te Anau Downs, the starting point for the Milford Track, to hear stories and enjoy the scenery.

• Eglinton Valley - Departing Te Anau and entering Fiordland National Park, stop in Eglinton Valley. • Mirror Lakes Walk - The next stop on this incredible adventure is Mirror Lakes for a brief walk to witness the famous reflections of the Earl Mountains. On the right day, capture a photo that makes it hard to tell which way is up.
• Lake Gunn - Continuing along the Milford Road, encounter Lake Gunn. Named after a renowned explorer and popular for fishing, often stop here for photos and to enjoy the tranquility.
• Darran Mountains - Ascending in altitude, delve deeper into the Darran Mountains, where the views warrant another stop for admiration and photos. This area is also home to the Kea, the world’s largest alpine parrot. Keep an eye out for these large, playful, and colorful birds that always delight and entertain when spotted.
• Homer Tunnel - The Homer Tunnel is a 1.2 km (0.75 miles) long road tunnel in the Fiordland region of New Zealand’s South Island, opened in 1953. New Zealand State Highway 94 traverses the tunnel, connecting Milford Sound to Te Anau and Queenstown by cutting through the Darran Mountains at the Homer Saddle. It links the Hollyford River valley to the east with the Cleddau valley to the west.
