A Family-Friendly Adventure: Discovering Quebec City and Montmorency Falls
Eager to find a family-friendly adventure, I embarked on the Quebec City Tour, promising a seamless journey from Montreal to Quebec City. With breathtaking views and a well-organized itinerary, it was an experience that exceeded my expectations.
A Relaxing Start to the Adventure
As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for experiences that are both enriching and stress-free for families. When I heard about the Quebec City Tour and its promise of a seamless journey from Montreal to Quebec City, I knew it was something I had to try. The idea of sitting back and relaxing on a comfortable bus, rather than navigating the roads myself, was incredibly appealing.
Our day began with a convenient pick-up from our hotel by Yu, our friendly driver. The bus was new and comfortable, with assigned seating that eliminated any potential confusion. As a mom of three, I appreciated this thoughtful touch, as it made the start of our journey smooth and hassle-free. However, a gentle reminder about bus etiquette could have enhanced the experience, as some fellow travelers were a bit too enthusiastic with their body spray and music videos.
Discovering Montmorency Falls
Our first stop was the breathtaking Montmorency Falls. Standing taller than Niagara Falls, the sight was nothing short of awe-inspiring. We had about an hour to explore, which was just the right amount of time to take in the views, climb the stairs, and snap some family photos. The kids were thrilled to see the waterfall up close, and it was a great opportunity for them to learn about the natural beauty of Quebec.
After our time at the falls, we continued our journey to Quebec City. The short ride was filled with anticipation as we approached the historic city. Our guide, Richard, was waiting to lead us on a 45-minute walking tour. His insights into the city’s history and landmarks were fascinating, and even the kids were captivated by tales of the Chateau Frontenac and the charming streets of Old Quebec.
Exploring Quebec City and a Scenic Cruise
With a couple of hours of free time, we wandered through the quaint streets of Old Quebec. The kids loved exploring the shops and trying out their French with the locals. We even found a cozy café where we indulged in some delicious crepes and coffee—a perfect way to recharge before our next adventure.
The optional river cruise was a highlight of the day. For a reasonable price, we enjoyed a 90-minute journey along the St. Lawrence River, offering stunning views of the city and Montmorency Falls from a different perspective. A tip for fellow travelers: try to snag a seat at the front of the boat for the best views on both sides.
As we disembarked, Yang was there to greet us, ensuring a smooth transition back to the bus. The journey back to Montreal was relaxing, and Yu dropped us off right at our hotel. Reflecting on the day, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for such a well-organized and enjoyable experience. It was a perfect blend of relaxation, exploration, and family fun—exactly what I strive to find in my travels.
