- Belle Mare Beach - Upon arrival at Belle Mare, you’ll begin with a thrilling parasailing activity. Parasailing is perfect for those seeking a unique sea and air adventure. It provides a stunning bird’s eye view of the beautiful lagoon and beach along the East Coast of Mauritius, making it a must-do during your holiday.
The parasailing experience starts with a brief safety orientation. You’ll then be transferred by speedboat to the launch platform, where your parasailing adventure will commence.
Once at the launch platform, you’ll be securely fastened with a certified harness to the parasail. After the ground crew checks the rig and flight harness, they will signal the boat driver to start the engine and gradually accelerate. You’ll gently lift off from the launch pad for a 10-minute parasail flight over the stunning lagoon.
- Belle Mare Beach - Next, enjoy a unique, safe, and captivating underwater walk on the ocean floor (approximately 3-4 meters deep), where you can observe the magnificent marine life of the Eastern coast of Mauritius, including beautiful fauna, corals, and a diverse array of fish in their natural environment. Experienced guides will accompany you throughout the Underwater Sea Walk, ensuring your utmost safety.
The excursion begins with a motorboat transfer from Belle Mare beach to a platform within the lagoon. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a pre-departure briefing on the equipment, local marine life, safety procedures, and the underwater walking trail.
With the guide’s assistance, you’ll step off the platform to begin your underwater walking adventure.
- Belle Mare Beach - Following that, you’ll enjoy a Tube Riding activity, one of the most popular and fun water sports activities to experience solo, as a couple, or with friends. This 15-minute tube ride on a colorful water tube promises 100% fun and an exhilarating experience.
To accommodate all participants, you can choose from a variety of models, such as single, twin, triple, kneeling, or laying water tubes, each offering a different ride experience.
You’ll be seated in an original pneumatic tube, pulled by a speedboat through the waters of Belle Mare beach. Simply hold onto the two handles on the sides of the tube and enjoy the thrilling ride.
Prepare for some serious fun as you bounce on the waves and cruise through the crystal-clear lagoons while attached to the speedboat.
- Pointe Canon - Next, travel to Pointe Canon, an intriguing spot offering a great overview of the various sites surrounding Mahebourg. You’ll see the majestic Lion Mountain overlooking the sugar cane fields, Mouchoir Rouge islet facing the waterfront, and Ile aux Aigrettes further north, a small protected island in the lagoon that is also a nature reserve. Pointe Canon is a gathering place for locals during events like regattas and the commemoration of the abolition of slavery in February. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Southeast and the ocean.
- Frederick Hendrick Museum - On the way, visit the Frederick Hendrick Museum, a historical site showcasing the remnants of the first human settlement in Mauritius. Located at Old Grand Port, this site bears witness to the Dutch and French colonial settlements on the southeast coast of Mauritius. The Dutch, the island’s first inhabitants, settled here to colonize it. The museum is surrounded by a lush tropical garden and includes a visitor center with an exhibition of artifacts found during archaeological excavations since 1997, as well as the remains of some ruins. These include building materials like stones, bricks, nails, military objects such as musket balls, cannonballs, flintstones, and many other fascinating items.
- Mahebourg Museum - Afterward, enjoy a 3-course lunch at a local restaurant, featuring fresh salads, rice, soups, chicken, fish, and vegetables.
Then, proceed to Mahebourg to visit the National History Museum of Mauritius, which offers a historical journey of the island dating back to the 18th century.
The Naval Museum of Mauritius holds memories of the French colonial empire. The museum’s appeal lies not only in its collection of exhibits but also in its historical significance as a building. It’s worth exploring both the exterior and the various exhibitions. Additionally, you’ll see exquisite artifacts from numerous shipwrecks. Some bones of extinct species like the Giant Tortoises and the Dodo are displayed, providing evidence of their existence until a few hundred years ago.
- Mahebourg Waterfront - Spend some time at the Mahebourg waterfront to learn about the fascinating culture and history of Mauritius. Situated in a traditional Mauritian village, the new Mahebourg Waterfront is perfect for a leisurely walk and a journey back in time, exploring local Mauritian history. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the epic battle fought in this region. There’s also a memorial known as Bataille de le Passe, honoring the fighters who lost their lives in the battle. Enjoy the panoramic view of the battle site.
- Bazar Street - Next, visit the Mahebourg local market, a vibrant place for those eager to experience the lively local culture. Discover amazing products at great bargains. Initially focused on silks and textiles, the Mahebourg market now offers a wide variety of seashells. The market features typical products like vegetables and fruits for locals, as well as a wide range of local handicrafts and souvenirs from the paradise island.
Don’t miss the food! At the Mahebourg Market, you’ll find a large selection of delicious street food, such as Briyani, Dholl Puri (lentil pancakes), Chinese Noodles, or the famous Gato Pima (split pea fritters). Snorkeling at the park is highly recommended, as the vibrant fauna and flora are truly breathtaking.
With an average depth of 5.5 meters and crystal-clear water offering excellent visibility, the snorkeling conditions are ideal. You’ll have a fantastic view of the reef, fish, and a wide variety of corals.
