- Qinyuan Mountain - Begin your journey by meeting your tour guide at your Xiamen downtown hotel at your preferred departure time. Travel comfortably in a private vehicle to Quanzhou, which takes approximately 90 minutes. Upon arrival, your first stop will be Qingyuan Mountain, renowned as the finest natural and cultural landscape in Quanzhou. It is often referred to as the “No.1 Penglai Mountain in Fujian Province” and the “Back garden of Quanzhou.” The mountains are modest in height, with lush greenery and gentle streams. A notable feature is the ancient monarch rock, a globally recognized statue of Taoist Lao Tzu carved from a massive mountain body, serving as a landmark of Qingyuan Mountain. The mountain is home to rock calligraphies from Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, Islam, and Muni, along with exquisite calligraphy from the Tang and Song Dynasties, earning it the title of “Museum of Stone Carving.” Following this, enjoy a delightful local lunch recommended by your guide.
- Kaiyuan Monastery - As the largest Buddhist temple in Fujian, Kaiyuan Temple draws numerous domestic and international visitors interested in Buddhist culture. After lunch, your guide will lead you through this well-preserved set of courtyard galleries. Key structures in Kaiyuan Temple include Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Palace, the Sweet Dew Temple, the Sutra Depository, and Gongde Tang. Two long corridors and two stone towers date back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Additionally, the temple houses many cultural relics. Kaiyuan Temple is essential for those wishing to understand local culture. After exploring the entire complex, you will gain a deep appreciation for the Buddhist culture represented by Kaiyuan Temple.
- Quanzhou Maritime Museum - The final stop is the Quanzhou Maritime Museum, an ideal destination for tourists to gain a comprehensive view of Quanzhou’s trading history and the evolution of Chinese shipbuilding. It is the only museum in China dedicated to historical relics related to overseas transportation. The museum comprises an old and a new section. The old section, located in the former Kaiyuan Temple, displays ancient boats. The new section, completed in 1991 and situated on the scenic banks of East Lake, resembles a large sailing ship on the sea. It spans an area of 3,000 square meters (32,000 sq ft) with a built-up area of 7,300 square meters (79,000 sq ft). The new section features four exhibition halls: “Quanzhou Maritime Exhibition Hall,” “Quanzhou Religious Stone Carving Hall,” “Quanzhou Ethnic Culture Exhibition Hall,” and “Ancient Chinese Model Hall.” Afterward, the driver will return you to Xiamen and drop you off at your hotel.
