• South Shaolin Temple - Your guide and driver will meet you in your hotel lobby at your selected departure time and drive approximately 2.5 hours to Putian. The first stop will be the South Shaolin Temple. This temple was established in the first year of Yongding of Chen during the Southern Dynasties (A.D. 557), just 61 years after the Songshan Shaolin Temple. It was once destroyed by the Qing Regime during the reign of Emperor Kangxi. Key attractions include the Southern Shaolin Temple, the cultural relic exhibition hall, The Juyi Hall of Tiandi Uprising Group, Honghua Pavilion, Nine-Lotus Rock, One-Finger-Zen Stone, Purple Cloud Stone, and Jiuhua-Diecui, among others.
• Meizhou Island - Next, proceed to Wenjia Wharf and take a ferry to Meizhou Island. Upon arrival, the first destination is the Meizhou Ancestral Temple of Goddess Matsu. This temple is a must-visit when traveling in Fujian, as Mazu is a significant historical figure in the hearts of the people of Putian. In Fujian, Goddess Matsu is often worshipped instead of other deities. The Meizhou Ancestral Temple of Goddess Matsu was originally constructed in 987 during the Northern Song Dynasty. Many visitors spend considerable time in prayer and supplication here. Then, visit the Mazu Cultural Park, which is close to the Ancestral Temple. At the top of the mountain in the park stands a grand 14-meter-high stone statue, along with stone carvings and a temple building complex. Viewed from a distance by boat, these structures resemble “the Potala Palace on the sea,” offering a magnificent sight. Both the Meizhou Ancestral Temple of Goddess Matsu and the Cultural Park are located in the northern part of the island, allowing for a combined visit. Other major attractions on the island include the Tide Music of Meizhou Island, Erwei Holy Stone Park, and Jiubaolan Golden Beach.
